The Twelve Snake watch celebrates the Lunar New Year and a classic mobile game.

It’s the year of the snake, so British watchmaker Christopher Ward has revealed a new timepiece featuring a Swiss-made self-winding movement and a design inspired by Snake -- the iconic mobile game included on the Nokia 6110.

The $1,225 Twelve Snake watch, available for preorder until February 12th, unfortunately doesn’t have a playable version of the game. Only a bright green faceted face design that simulates the appearance of Snake on the 6110’s pixelated display.

The pixelated snake on the Twelve Snake watch simulates the Nokia 6110’s display, but doesn’t move around the watch’s face.
A small window at the 7:30 position of the watch’s face features six different pixelated insects appearing throughout the day.

Satechi’s M4 Mac Mini hub is now available.

Last month, Satechi confirmed its Mac Mini M4 Stand & Hub would be available starting on February 17th, 2025, but it turns out you won’t have to wait that long. The hub is available now through Satechi’s online store for $99.99, with free two day shipping in the US.

It will only be available in limited quantities today. You can still preorder the hub if it sells out, but it won’t ship until sometime in March.

Nikon’s new super-zoom includes modes for shooting birds, fireworks, and the moon.

Launching in late February for $1,099.95, the Nikon Coolpix P1100 brings a few upgrades to the now-discontinued P1000 released in 2018. It’s got the same 24-3000mm lens offering 125x optical zoom, but adds USB-C (to comply with EU laws) and updated Bluetooth.

In addition to dedicated modes for birdwatchers and moon photography, the new P1100 also adds a fireworks mode that stacks multiple exposures to create light trails and to “reduce instances of blown-out highlights.”

The Nikon Coolpix P1100 is designed for birdwatchers wanting extended zoom capabilities without spending thousands of dollars on cameras and lenses.
A wireless remote is included with the camera so users don’t have to rely on a smartphone app to operate it from a distance.
The Coolpix P1100 uses a 16.79-megapixel sensor and can record 4K video at up to 30fps.
The P1100 offers an additional 4x digital zoom for photographing distant objects like the moon.

This stylus stinks.

Sure, the S Pen lost its Bluetooth features with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. But you know what hasn’t changed? It still smells kinda bad. I confirmed this myself when I unboxed the phone in San Jose, and have verified with another colleague who remarked that it smells “plasticky.” And guess what? That’s not even the only thing that stinks about it.

A Nothing button.

Along with an image teasing a new button on the side of (presumably) the Phone 3A, Nothing cryptically posted, “Your second memory, one click away.”

What is the button for? 9to5Google’s suspicion of a dedicated camera button makes sense, but so does a key for summoning an AI assistant or even a Nothing take on the iPhone Action Button. We’ll find out soon enough; the phone launches March 4th.

Lenovo’s Charging Connector for the Legion Go is finally here.

Originally announced last August with an expected release in October 2024, Lenovo’s wedge-shaped Charging Connector is finally available for $49.99.

Similar to the Switch’s Joy-Con grip, the accessory turns the Legion Go’s controllers into a single gamepad with a longer-lasting 2,850mAh battery. And while it’s rumored that the new Legion Go 2’s controllers will be backwards compatible with the original, it’s not known if this charging accessory will also be.

The Charging Connector includes its own 2,850mAh battery that can be charged with a USB-C cable, and functions as a charging hub for the connected controllers.

These smart glasses just got FDA clearance as OTC hearing aids.

I got to try out EssilorLuxottica’s Nuance Audio glasses last month at CES 2025. They look like normal glasses, but can amplify the voice of whoever you’re speaking to while also dampening noisy environments. Plus, since it can handle prescription lenses, it’s sort of like killing two birds with one stone. Now that they’ve got FDA clearance, the glasses are set to launch in the US in Q1 this year and the first half of 2025 in Europe.

Verbatim confirms it’s not abandoning recordable Blu-rays.

Following Sony’s announcement that it was officially ending production of recordable Blu-ray discs this month, Verbatim and I-O Data have pledged ongoing support and a stable supply of recordable optical media in a recent press release spotted by Tom’s Hardware.

However, while Verbatim did at one time produce recordable MiniDiscs, there was no mention by the company of resuming production of those or the other formats Sony is abandoning including MD-Data discs and MiniDV cassettes.

CalDigit’s compact Thunderbolt 5 dock doesn’t skimp on ports.

The new Element 5 Hub differentiates itself from Kensington and Cable Matters’ Thunderbolt 5 docks with a much smaller design. Despite its compact footprint, the $249 Element 5 still features four 80Gbps Thunderbolt 5 ports (up to 120Gbps with Bandwidth Boost), two slower 10Gbps USB-C ports, and three USB-A ports. Power delivery maxes out at 90W, but it can drive three 4K/60Hz displays on Windows, or a pair of 6K/60Hz displays on macOS.

Caldigit’s Element 5 Hub is smaller than most smartphones but quite a bit thicker.
The Element 5 Hub includes nine USB ports in total, with a maximum power output of 90W.
When connected to a Windows machine, the Element 5 can power up to three 4K/60Hz displays.
With macOS, only a dual 6K/60Hz display setup is supported.

This mini PC with a touchpad on top should keep your fingers warm.

For $110, the performance of the Kidwants KN1 Touch Mini PC, powered by a 2.6GHz Intel Celeron N4000 CPU, isn’t going to impress you. The reason to even consider this compact PC is that it features a large touchpad built into the top of its case supporting multi-finger gestures like two-finger scrolling and pinch to zoom. That’s one less peripheral crowding your desk, and potentially a convenient way to keep at least one hand toasty.

The Kidwants KN1 mini PC is powered by an Intel Celeron N4000 CPU paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

GoPro’s cheap Hero has some new features.

Although it was overshadowed by the launch of the Hero 13 Black last September, GoPro hasn’t forgotten about its smaller and cheaper $179 Hero action cam. A software update available today is introducing a new 4K 4:3 video setting that uses the sensor’s full height and width. The Hero is also getting GoPro’s SuperView Digital Lens option which converts 4:3 videos to 16:9 by stretching the sides of the video to create a wider effect.

Build your own macrodata refinement keyboard.

The retrofuturistic computers used by Lumon employees in Severance are loosely based on the Data General Dasher terminals released in the late ‘70s. Signature Plastics, the same company responsible for the SA profile keycaps used on those terminals, is now selling a matching set of keycaps so you can upgrade your mechanical keyboard with Lumon aesthetics. The SA Macrodata Refinement set is available for preorder now for $197, and expected to ship in Q1 2025.

You’ll need to provide your own keyboard for Signature Plastics’ new SA Macrodata Refinement keycap set.
The keycaps are made from double-shot ABS plastic.
Signature Plastics also sells a matching Scary Numbers 32-inch wide desk mat for $29.

JerryRigEverything’s Kindle Colorsoft teardown reveals how its E Ink screen works.

Amazon’s first Kindle with a color screen has been dismantled, slashed, hacked, and scratched by JerryRigEverything who found that you may want to get a case to protect the plastic top layer of the Colorsoft’s screen.

Using a USB microscope, the teardown also reveals how its E Ink screen actually works, producing color using black and white pigments that block or boost tinted pixels on an extra color filter layer.

From Steam Deck to Steam Brick.

To make the Steam Deck even more portable, modder Crastinator-pro stripped the handheld down to the bare essentials needed to play games while connected to a TV or pair of AR glasses.

The smaller and lighter Steam Brick says goodbye to the Steam Deck’s screen, controls, and battery and stuffs the remaining electronics into a custom 3D-printed housing featuring just a USB port and a power button.

Bandai’s new Star Wars Tamagotchi makes you responsible for raising Vader.

Following Grogu and R2-D2 versions, Bandai’s latest Star Wars collaboration turns Anakin Skywalker into a digital pet. But no matter how you choose to raise him with regular feedings and even lightsaber training, the Tamagotchi version of Anakin is always destined for the dark side and will inevitably grow into one of ten different versions of Darth Vader.

There’s a Nintendo DS inside this custom Game Boy with a second pop-up screen.

Hairo Satoh has managed to squeeze a Nintendo DS into an original Game Boy that still closely resembles the original hardware. DS games are playable thanks to an added card slot on the bottom, a second screen that pops out the top, and a touchscreen upgrade. Now just give it an 3DS autostereo screen and stubby joystick!

Correction: It was the 3DS, not the DS, that had a stubby joystick.

A 3D scan captured by an iPhone helped recreate a 50-year-old Atari arcade machine.

Atari’s Space Race debuted in 1973 with a limited number of arcade machines featuring a futuristic fiberglass cabinet design.

They’re now hard to come by, so the Retro Collective recreated one from scratch using a crude 3D iPhone scan of an original unit that was refined, 3D-printed, and assembled like a giant retro gaming puzzle with some added electronics.

This Mac Mini Kensington security lock makes sure it can’t escape.

The impressively small Mac Mini doesn’t include a slot for cable locks, so Kensington’s solution to prevent it from getting stolen from schools, offices, and other shared spaces is a new $69.95 secure steel cage.

The Kensington Security Mount for Mac Mini also doubles as a mounting solution, allowing the desktop to be installed out of sight for added security.

You can get this ultra-thin wallet-sized SD card holder for free.

A new company called Oda has decided the best way to promote its first product is to just give it away. Its wallet-sized Slim Card Holder can hold two SD and two microSD cards, or eight microSD cards in an alternate configuration.

The first batch was quickly claimed earlier this month, and you can expect today’s restock to also disappear in no time.
