DEAR DEIDRE: SINCE my mum remarried, my new stepsister has been making her life a misery.

She wants constant attention and won’t let her dad spend any time alone with my mum, his new wife. I think she’s got issues.

I’m 28 and my mum is 58. My stepsister is 25.

My mum told me that my stepsister comes around almost every day, expects to eat with them and doesn’t leave until late.

If she isn’t at their house, she’s on the phone to her dad for hours.

She calls up, crying – about problems with her boyfriend, or her flatmates, or her job.

He’s always treated her like his little princess so, of course, won’t say anything to her or tell her to give them some privacy.

I can’t go round to see my mum because this girl is there. If I do, she makes herself the focus of attention.

My mum is unhappy. I’m worried it’s going to ruin her marriage before it’s properly begun.

What can I do?
