The Hong Kong Trade Development Council plans to host around 40 international exhibitions and conferences this year.

These events will cover sectors such as jewelry, fashion, gifts, home goods, lighting, medical supplies, and electronics, and are expected to contribute to the city's economy.

Together with events organized by other sectors, the total number of exhibitions in the city will surpass 100 this year.

Exhibition visitors are mainly high-end travelers who stay in Hong Kong overnight, spending nearly HK$9,000 on average, said HKTDC deputy executive director Sophia Chong Suk-fan.

This is much higher than what regular tourists spend, she said, a adding that this benefits the city's retail, dining and hospitality sectors.

The 2025 exhibition season kicks with the HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, the HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair and the Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from January 6 to 9.

The three fairs have attracted more than 2,500 exhibitors from 34 countries and regions, including pavilions from Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, Korea, and Europe.

"We have also invited more than 200 buying missions from over 40 countries and regions to Hong Kong for sourcing, creating new opportunities for the industry and injecting new momentum into Hong Kong's economic development," Chong said.

The Toys & Games Fair will feature an ESG exhibition and sustainable toy selections, along with a 40 percent increase in the area for electronic and remote-controlled toys.
