Some are a continuation of 2024 organization trends that had evident staying power, so to get the most valuable input we spoke with two organization experts to get their take on how we'll be arranging our homes come the new year.

The new year is going to be one full of big changes, and professional organizers believe that design-centric organization will be one of them.
"2025 will usher us back into those basics regarding organization, making us more mindful and conscious consumers," professional organizer Shannon Johnson says.
"Adding more style-forward organization products serves a dual purpose while meeting storage needs while complementing a space as decor," she says.
This could be expressed in many different ways, from side tables that look like art but feature storage, or designing shelves, walls, and others systems in a way that feels just as decorative as it does functional.
"Combining these elements is a winning strategy," Johnson says.

On-the-Go Organization
We're more mobile than we've ever been before, which means organization trends aren't only beholden to our living spaces. People love to travel, and this is starting to impact how we stay organized when we're at home and on the go.
"It seems that people want easy solutions to how to pack and stay organized." says
professional organizer Barbara Brock. "Using packing cubes to stay organized while packing is a growing trend."
This also makes it easier to organize post-trip. Once you get home, you can easily parse out dirty laundry and store away stackable cubes and suitcases.
Sustainable Substitutes

For a long time, plastic organizers, dividers, and containers seemed to be everywhere. While they lend themselves to a clean aesthetic, they aren't the most eco-friendly options. But one trend is certainly going to change that.
"I'm looking forward to moving away from clear/acrylic products and integrating more sustainable and ethically sourced solutions into my projects," says Johnson.
There are numerous options out there, including bamboo, wood, and glass containers; even recycled plastic can be a better choice. But one thing we know for certain is that acrylic is on its way out.
Minimalist-Adjacent Mindsets
While the likes of maximalism and cluttercore often go in and out, minimalism holds a certain staying power year over year.
"We are beginning to understand how much our possessions impact our lives," Johnson says.
Even if you love purchasing new decor or have a sentimental tie to specific items around your home, she explains that our lives are too busy to constantly stay on top of it all.
"There is a shift towards being more intentional," she says, which has led to things such as capsule wardrobes and sticking with products we know and trust.
Push for Designation and Categorization

It seems our lives are getting faster and busier each year, which has lead to an increased need and want for staying organized. It won't necessarily be brand new mindset or method, but rather using processes and items people already know help.
"When there are identifiable places to put things, everyone in the household breathes easier because they know where to return items," Brock says.
This means we can expect tight systems at home and a place for everything. She predicts people embracing what expert organizers often call "categorizing your living:" More bins with dividers and stackable containers to keep everything in check.
Custom-Built Solutions
People are always seeking out spaces that are easy on the eyes and clean. But this coming year, experts anticipate they'll also want storage units that cater to their specific organizational needs.
"Custom-built solutions will be the go-to way to keep things streamlined and on trend," Johnson says. "Going custom ensures that spaces are perfectly tailored to accommodate belongings."
Although it's more of an investment up front, cabinetry, nooks, and units that you have personalized to your household absolutely maximize efficiency and functionality long term.
