The Roost is an ambitious 12,500-square-foot food hall and neighborhood gathering place located at Blackbird, a new 167 unit residential building perched on the corner of Pennsylvania Ave SE and 14th Street SE on Capitol Hill. Developed and managed by local dining and drinking connoisseurs Neighborhood Restaurant Group in partnership with May Riegler, The Roost brings together a handful of the District’s best chefs along with a lively & diverse collection of the area’s most compelling food, beer, wine and spirits purveyors. You'll find everything from coffee by local roasters, to that perfect burger and craft beer for any night of the week, to refined cocktails, a full service restaurant and so much more. In short, The Roost is an altogether unique food hall created by the DC community, for the DC community.

Slice Joint celebrates true, New York style pizza. And with Rachael Marie, who earned the title of “Pizza Regina” during her 4 years manning the ovens at Roberta's, the proof is in the pie. Linda's is a deceptively simple eatery brought to life by Chef Rachael Marie, the force behind Slice Joint and Director of Operations for The Roost. Envisioned as a sort of Mediterranean market stall, Linda's features salads and sandwiches lovingly crafted with exceptional ingredients. From her Prosciutto & Mozzarella Salad to the Classic Italian Ciabatta Sandwich to the Meatball Hero, this is a menu designed with delicious dining in mind.

Show of Hands is a craft cocktail and wine bar that highlights low-alcohol drinks backed by a stellar portfolio of wines by the glass. Spirits Director Nick Farrell has designed Show of Hands as a neighborhood gathering place, though it’ll undoubtedly find its mark as one of DC's great bars.
Caruso’s Grocery
The Roost’s one and only standalone restaurant, Caruso’s Grocery, is modeled after the once ubiquitous classic Italian-American “red sauce” joints. Chef Matt Adler has crafted a menu that pays homage to the past with an eye toward the present featuring an emphasis on fresh seasonal ingredients.
Shop Made In DC

Shop Made In DC at The Roost is a highly edited 'storelet' featuring a small capsule collection of wares and goods from 40+ DC creatives. As they have done with their other locations, it will serve as a hub for local makers with a packed schedule of classes, activations and programming throughout the year.

The Roost is located in the historic and architecturally diverse neighborhood of Capitol Hill, just east of notable landmarks like Barracks Row and Eastern Market, and steps from the Potomac Ave metro. The Roost has been thoughtfully designed and created with the needs and desires of our neighbors in mind, and will offer family-friendly gathering spaces, indoors and out, with a multitude of dining options for all. The community-driven food hall aims to complement the local, independent businesses that surround it, supplementing with a bevvy of affordable and unique food and beverage offerings.
The Roost is situated on the ground floor of Blackbird, a cool new fully amenitized apartment building in South East Capitol Hill. Blackbird features 167 living spaces with sleek features and finishes throughout a variety of floorplan options from studio to three-bedroom layouts, replete with concierge services, a courtyard pool, fitness center, and rooftop resident lounge offering sweeping city views of the Capitol and beyond.
