Islamabad: In a remarkable operation, the Islamabad Police rescued a 4-year-old boy, Abu Bakr, who was abducted for ransom. The main suspect, Akhtar Nawaz, has been arrested, and efforts are underway to apprehend his accomplices.
On December 29, 2024, Muhammad Kashif lodged a complaint at the Tarnol Police Station, reporting that his son, Abu Bakr, had been abducted by unknown individuals. Following the registration of an FIR under Section 364A of the Pakistan Penal Code, IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi took immediate notice of the incident and directed swift action for the child’s recovery.
DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza formed multiple teams under the supervision of SSP (Operations/Investigation) Muhammad Arsalan Shahzaib. These teams included SP (Saddar) Khan Zeb, SHOs of Tarnol and Sumbal Police stations, and other senior officers.
The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs5 million, threatening to harm the child if the payment was not made. Despite the threats, police teams conducted a precise operation, arresting the main suspect, Akhtar Nawaz, and rescuing Abu Bakr unharmed, without any ransom being paid.
Initial investigations revealed that Akhtar Nawaz and his accomplices kidnapped the child to extort money. Police are continuing their efforts to apprehend the remaining culprits.
The rescued child was safely reunited with his parents, who expressed profound gratitude to the Islamabad Police for their swift and efficient actions. IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi commended the performance of the police teams, announcing cash rewards and certificates of appreciation for their outstanding efforts.
