LAHORE:Punjab Police spent more than Rs2.32billion for the welfare of cops and their families in 2024. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, Rs10million are being spent on the welfare of cops and their families daily.
The spokesman said more than Rs780million were spent on educational scholarships for cops’ children, more than Rs280million were given to cops for their medical treatment, more than Rs590million were spent on arranging wedding gifts for daughters of the cops.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, also arranged homes for 27 families of police martyrs. The wounded cops were given more than Rs70million and more than Rs130million were spent for the treatment of disabled and ailing kids of the cops.
The Punjab Police arranged Rs20million scholarships for kids of cops and arranged 170 plots for families of police martyrs who embraced martyrdom before 2017 and more than Rs30 million for the construction of houses for the families of police martyrs.
The Punjab Police also gave money for funerals, farewell grants on retirement, subsistence allowances, emergency and legal aid to cops. Talking to reporters, the IGP said agreements had been made with various institutions for the best treatment and education of family members of the cops. He said 2024 would be remembered as the year of the welfare for police employees.
