HYDERABAD: Sindh Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah on Friday inaugurated the Sheikh Ayaz Melo. The event started with a presentation of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s poetry.
The literary festival offered sessions on various topics, including the life of Sheikh Ayaz and his literary services. Literary personalities and poets from all over the country participated in the festival.
Paying tribute to Ayaz, the Sindh culture minister said Ayaz was a symbol of enlightenment who rebelled against dictatorship in the country. He said poets like Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Ayaz were important figures not only in literature but also political resistance as they fought oppression despite hardships.
He added that Ayaz was not only limited to Sindh as his message was universal. Shah also termed Ayaz a role model for the youth. A large number of poets arrived in Hyderabad to participate in the Mushaira of Ayaz Melo. An art gallery was also decorated for the event.
