HARIPUR: To promote and highlight the evolution of Pakistani gems and jewelry, the School of Design Art and Architecture Technologies (SDAAT) of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Science and Technology (PAF-IAST) was going to organise a two-day jewelry conference from December 23 to 24, an official said on Friday.
Sharing the schedule and timing of the conference, Prof Zafar Iqbal, dean of Department of Design and Art of the University, said that the speakers from academia and field experts and entrepreneurs would share their knowledge, expertise through talks and poster sessions at the conference.
He said that the speaker would highlight the evolution of jewelry interconnection of art and science, precious and semi-precious jewellery and imitation jewellery.While a session on unexplored potential and hidden talent of incarcerated artisans seeking transformative power of jewelry as source of mental, emotional and economic rehabilitation of inmates, was also part of the conference where apart from local speakers some keynote foreign experts would also be sharing their input on the topic.
Provincial minister for Local Governments Arshad Ayub Khan would be chief guest of the opening session, Prof Zafar Iqbal said. Different companies and organisations would also put on display different jewelry items and gems in the two-day conference.
