LAHORE: The Lahore Race Club witnessed a thrilling day of races on Sunday, with several underdogs pulling off unexpected victories. Royal Crown produced the biggest upset of the day by winning the Mother’s Day Cup. Murad, however, lived up to the billing as it clinched the Super Assets Cup.
Royal Crown, Olympus, Spartacus, Yes Commander, and Mumraiz Prince all defied expectations and impressed the audience with their performances. In the opening race, Abdullah Champion emerged victorious, as anticipated. However, Master Prince and Khizer Choice secured the second and third positions, respectively, creating minor upsets.
The second race saw Self Belief living up to its name. Sultan Jahaniya surprisingly clinched the second place, while Raghu Bhai snagged the third position in an unexpected turn of events. Mother’s Day Cup was the third race, and in a major upset, Royal Crown secured the Cup. The favourite, Public Star, had to settle for second place, while Treasure Trip finished third. The favourite, Murad, delivered a predictable win in the Super Assets Cup. However, there was a surprise for second place, as Spartacus emerged ahead of the anticipated Redrock, who finished third.
Olympus stunned everyone with a victory in the fifth race, overshadowing Shakira which came second and favourite Quality Street which managed third place. In the final race of the day, Mohni Prince claimed victory. However, the remaining podium positions saw upsets, with Yes Commander and Mumraiz Prince grabbing the second and third spots, respectively.
