A wealthy property heir, Apichai Ongwisit, 40, known as the "Thai Ted Bundy" has been apprehended amid concerns that he may have killed numerous women and fed their remains to his carnivorous fish in his garden pond.

The police raided Ongwisit's home following a tip-off that he was behind the murder of his 22-year-old girlfriend, Warinthorn Chaiyachet, also known as Kik.

This horrifying case is drawing comparisons to American serial killer Ted Bundy, who slaughtered up to 30 young women before attempting to dispose of their mutilated bodies.

On January 9, Kik's body, identifiable by a large fish tattoo on her back, was discovered in a plastic bag weighed down with dumbbells in the pond.

Investigators suspect she was suffocated before being thrown into the pond filled with carnivorous alligator gars fish at Ongwisit's Bangkok residence last July. Police fear there may be more victims after divers found at least 298 human bones in the water on Friday.

The family of a missing 12-year-old girl who lived near the property in Bangkok's Bang Khae district fears she might also be in the pond. The police chief stated: "The investigation has found several women who were involved with the culprit have disappeared. They include his friends, girlfriends and prostitutes."

He added: "We have found 298 bone pieces in the pond so far but could not clarify how many humans those bones were from. We are also seeking his ex-girlfriend, who we believe might have witnessed or have information about him killing the missing women."

The case kicked off in July of the previous year when Apichai and his girlfriend, Kik, lodged a police complaint. They initiated a search for suspects who were allegedly involved in sexually assaulting her.

However, shortly after Kik's complaint, her family reported that she was missing. The search for the missing woman continued when an informant, Chalermchai, 50, tipped off the police about the possibility of at least two other victims.

Human bones were subsequently discovered and sent to Siriraj Hospital for forensic examination. Police believe the bones belong to at least three individuals.

In a strange turn of events, it was revealed that the suspect was the son of a multi-millionaire property tycoon who was arrested on charges of murdering and dismembering a 15-year-old girl in 1983. The mother, accused of orchestrating the crime, fled abroad with his younger sister while the father was later shot dead.
