Two people have been found dead inside the landing gear compartment of a JetBlue plane.

The bodies were discovered on the aircraft that flew from JFK Airport in New York to Florida on Monday.

A JetBlue spokesperson said both people were found deceased during a 'post-flight maintenance inspection'.

Authorities have so far not identified the victims as investigations continue into how they entered the aircraft.

A JetBlue spokesperson told Mirror: "On Monday evening, January 6, at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLHIA), two individuals were found in the landing gear compartment of one of our aircraft during the routine post-flight maintenance inspection. Tragically, both individuals were deceased.

"At this time, the identities of the individuals and the circumstances surrounding how they accessed the aircraft remain under investigation.

"This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this occurred."

The flight departed New York's JFK Airport just before 8pm, according to FlightAware.com. It arrived at 11:10pm local time.

A dead body was previously found in the wheel well of United Airlines plane after it travelled 4,000 miles from Chicago and landed in Maui on Christmas Eve 2024, according to Mirror.

United Airlines confirmed in a statement to WGN News that the body was found in the wheel well of the main landing gears of Flight 202. “The wheel well was only accessible from outside of the aircraft. At this time, it is not clear how or when the person accessed the wheel well,” United said.
