Inside Jerry Springer's personal life - From past marriage to being a father

Jerry Springer is back on television screens, but not in a way many think.

Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action will premiere on Netflix on January 7, giving viewers at home a glimpse to one their favorite television hosts. The documentary goes behind the scenes of America's most controversial talk show and exposes its biggest scandals, both on- and off-camera. The series includes interview from people involved in the making of the show behind the scenes, including Richard Dominick, who produced the controversial show.

Jerry died in April 27, 2023 after battling pancreatic cancer, leaving behind his ex-wife, Micki Velton, and their daughter, Katie Springer.

Jerry married Micki in 1973 after four years of dating. When the two met in a blind date, Micki was working for Proctor and Gamble and Jerry was serving on the Cincinnati City Council. Their relationship was not always sunshine and rainbows and was even tested when the television host was involved in a prostitution scandal a few months after their wedding. He admitted to visiting a brothel disguised as a health club and paid prostitutes with checks. His wife forgave him and remained together for many years.

The two were married for about 21 years before divorcing in 1994. Their representative confirmed to In Touch that the couple made up and were married for 49 years and were still together at the time of Jerry's death. Micki liked living out of the spotlight,

Jerry and Micki welcomed one daughter in 1976, Katie, who's their only child. Like her mother, Katie also enjoyed living her life outside of the spotlight. According to GH Gossip, Katie is an educator and legally blind and deaf in one ear. She spent more than a decade assisting children with special needs.

Jerry's daughter also reportedly got married in 2006 and details on the wedding or her spouse remain under wraps. The publication reported that Katie and her husband do share a son named Richard, who was born in 2008, making Jerry a grandfather.
