Demi Moore did not only help present an award this evening but she also took one home and was left in tears. She won the award for best performance by an actress in a motion picture â musical or comedy.
During her acceptance speech, Demi said: "I really wasnât expecting that. Iâm just in shock right now! Iâve been doing this a long, like over 45 years and this is the first time Iâve ever won anything as an actor. And Iâm just so humbled and so grateful."
She revealed that 30 years ago, Demi was told by a producer that she was "a popcorn actress." She added: "And at that time I made that mean that this wasnât something that I was allowed to have, that I could do movies that were successful and made a lot of money â¦. That corroded me for a time."
Demi also recalled the moment in her life where she felt like she already did what she was "supposed to do," but when the "courageous" and "bonkers script" of The Substance came to her, it took her out of a "low point."
She said: "The universe told me that youâre not done... I had a woman say to me, 'Just know you will never be enough but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down your measuring stick.'"
At the end of her acceptance speech, Demi encouraged women who have ever felt like they werenât "smart enough, pretty enough" or âjust not enough" to not give up on themselves with advice she onces received.
