Easy DIY Christmas Ornament Ideas

Easy DIY Christmas Ornaments are a fun craft during the holiday season and add a special handmade touch to your Christmas Tree Decor. 

I’m back with another holiday post! Last week I shared our cozy and moody Christmas tree decor this year, and today I’m sharing my best DIY ornament ideas. My very favourite time of year to share little projects is definitely the Christmas holiday season, and today I’m sharing some of my favourite easy DIY Christmas ornaments as well as a few other DIY Christmas ideas. Today I’m featuring an adorable DIY Christmas ornament made from classic christmas replacement light bulbs… you know, think old school red, green, and blue Christmas lights. The kind we all hung manually on our trees (and outdoors on our homes) in the years before all the lights went white…. and then all the lights became tiny little bulbs… and then all the lights became pre-hung on our fake trees. I remember these light bulb replacements so clearly from my childhood, which is probably why they inspired me so much to think of ways to feature them in my Christmas decorating, even though we don’t use them as actual light replacement bulbs anymore.

I think you’ll agree that this simple DIY Christmas ornament idea is not only quick, easy, and affordable, but adorable too!

I found my bulbs at a local big box store with Christmas decor and supplies. In addition to the bulbs, I used some twine, hot glue, and some faux greenery, berries, and pine cones from the dollar store. You could cut apart a greenery pick into smaller sections, and even use real tiny pine cones if you have access to them. The ornaments would even be cute with just the twine, but I like how the greenery and berries added an extra bit of interest and texture.

I just wrapped and glued the twine…

Twisted it around the top and glued it to create the hanger, and then added my decorative additions…

Aren’t they so fun? And quick to make! I used real glass bulbs so they are breakable, but you can sometimes find plastic versions of these as well. I personally love the shiny reflection you get from the glass bulbs.
