If you’re a native New Yorker staying in the city this week or a tourist living out your Gossip Girl fantasy by visiting the Big Apple over the holidays, you’ll definitely want to stop by the Nordstrom flagship (located on Broadway and 57th Street) on Thanksgiving Day. The store is celebrating its fifth anniversary with the Blizz on 57th Street, a large-scale activation that’s part of a festive campaign and display called Wonder All the Way.

The interior and exterior store takeover will be unveiled today, November 27, just in time for Thanksgiving. It spans seven floors and features inflatable characters inspired by everyday objects and voiced by two icons: filmmaker and actor John Waters and actress Fran Drescher. The Blizz on 57th Street also features sound installations, an interactive treasure map, immersive activities, the opportunity to win prizes, and exclusive holiday collectibles that you can only find at the Nordstrom flagship store. As part of the activation, Nordstrom is also bringing back its fan-favorite Santa Snow Show with daily performances from November 29 through December 24 — and yes, that means your kids can snap a photo with Santa all month long.

“The entire store is being activated as a scavenger hunt with the intention that customers should explore every nook and cranny,” Nordstrom SVP of creative merchandising Olivia Kim says. “It is a dream to have the iconic voices of John Waters and Fran Drescher narrate all the characters along the way to tell a complete story. From the apathetic shiny Stars to gossiping Lipsticks and Pigeonthia, our fortune-telling oracle, the entire lot of personalities is sure to make what can be a stressful shopping season into an unexpected storybook of joy.”

The Blizz on 57th Street is truly the perfect daytime activity for families and kids, people who love the nostalgia of the holiday season, and anyone else looking for Thanksgiving Day plans. What’s more, Nordstrom worked with an impressive line-up of New York City–based creatives to bring the campaign and display to life. The project was led by the editor in chief of i-D magazine, Thom Bettridge; former creative director of Barneys New York Matthew Mazzuca; illustrator and animator Anthony Ferrara; artist and production designer Desi Santiago; and Balenciaga graphic designer Gian Gisiger.

“I am excited to partner with a New York–based community of friends, collaborators, and innovative thinkers. Nordstrom has always prided itself on being a platform for emerging partnerships. As a New Yorker, it was especially wonderful to work with friends in my hometown to bring a larger-than-life idea to life,” Kim says. “Our goal was to inspire and delight customers of all ages, creating a sense of fun, childlike wonder that anyone can enjoy. Additionally, we wanted to celebrate the season with festivities and a unique, original story that would be truly memorable and not to be missed.”
