Who Is Christina Haack and Why Do I Know Everything About Her Divorce(s)?

Alongside stars like Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston, there is one woman who consistently rules the tabloids. Her name? Christina Haack. Well, it’s also Christina Hall. And it has been Christina El Moussa, and also Christina Anstead. Confused? Me too, and at this point I know more about this gal than I do members of my own family.

For starters, Haack is the longtime star of the HGTV reality show Flip or Flop. She has also parlayed her near-constant marital drama into tabloid ubiquity. Here she is on the cover of Us Weekly this week with her first husband, Tarek El Moussa, and his new-ish wife Heather El Moussa (of Selling Sunset fame).

Haack is about to premiere a new show on HGTV called The Flip Off, which was supposed to be a renovation competition between Haack and her third husband, Josh Hall, and the El Moussas. But now Haack and Hall are getting divorced. Unfortunately, Haack’s third marriage lasted for only two years. Fortunately, she is happy to tell the public all about it.

So who exactly is this person and why is she on the cover of People or Us Weekly every other month? Gosh, where do I begin?

She is currently on her third divorce

Hall filed for divorce from Haack in July. At the time, the couple was in the midst of filming The Flip Off, and it seems that the breakdown of their marriage will be featured on the show. Here’s a teaser in which Hall says Haack is “pissing [him] off.” Rude.

Haack first rose to fame in 2013, when she co-starred on Flip or Flop with her then-husband El Moussa. The two divorced in 2016 (under dramatic and somewhat scary circumstances), but they’re friends now.

Then, Haack moved on with Ant Anstead, a British reality TV personality who rebuilds cars. They got married in 2018, had a son, Hudson, in 2019, and got divorced in 2020. Anstead is now dating Renee Zellweger, which is one of the more random but seemingly successful celebrity pairings in recent history.

Shortly after her divorce from Anstead was finalized, Haack started dating Hall. She memorably described their connection in an Instagram post in 2021: I met Josh when I wasn’t in a state of fear or fight-or-flight. I had taken time off social, hired a spiritual coach and smoked a Bufo toad (which basically reset my brain and kicked out years of anxiety in 15 mins). When we met this past spring, the synchronicities hit us so hard and fast they were impossible to ignore.”

They got secretly married in 2021, announced their marriage in 2022, and now they’re over. But they’re still in communication: They have been feuding on social media about whether or not Haack is exploiting the demise of their relationship for viewers.

“Josh was very hard to film with,” Haack told Us Weekly this week. “He didn’t get it. He’d always get upset with me, like, ‘Oh, my gosh, you did this,’ or ‘You did that.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m making a TV show.’”

I still do not understand who Hall is, exactly, or what he was doing before he wound up on The Flip Off with Haack, but Haack will tell you who he is not: a home renovation professional.

“This isn’t Josh’s show,” she told Us Weekly. “No one’s going to miss that he’s not in it. Josh is not a TV host, he’s not a house flipper, he’s not a designer. He was just my husband in it. With Tarek, we built everything together, and I still have respect for him. I have no respect for Josh.” Slam!

She recently met Renee Zellweger and it was chill

Aside from her current divorce battle, things seem to be going well for Haack. She is friendly with the El Moussas, and she has also developed a friendship with Anstead. After she and Hall separated, she told Us Weekly, “I was dropping Hudson off at Ant’s house, and he gave me a big hug and was like, ‘I’m here for you and I’m so sorry you’re going through this.’ He said, ‘I feel like Josh is the source of the problem and why I couldn’t communicate.’ Now we’re back on track.”

She is even buddying up to Zellweger. “It’s mostly just on the soccer field or at drop-off, but she’s super nice,” she told the tabloid. “She loves Hudson, and Hudson loves her. And she and Ant are happy.”

It’s nice that Haack will be able to enjoy the forthcoming Bridget Jones sequel (fourquel?) on Peacock during this difficult time.

She thinks she’ll get married again, why not

In a New Year’s post on Instagram, Haack revealed that she has plans for “karma restoration” in 2025:

“Yes I am still a work in progress…healing is not linear,” she wrote. She has learned to have “awareness of past patterns, not ignoring my intuition & gut instincts, slowing the f down, talking to my friends vs being embarrassed and not talking to anyone as well as not being afraid to have the hard conversations. This year I will be doing the work with my life coach to break the cycle.”

That sounds like a lot to figure out, but Haack remains unafraid of commitment. She told Us Weekly, “I’ll always love love. I probably will get married again eventually. But not anytime soon, and I’d be engaged for a minimum of like five years.”

Thank God for that, and good luck to the other person involved in that five-year engagement.
