Renovating a kitchen is hard work. It's hard mentally and physically. Like eating hotdog flavoured ice cream.
This has been going on for months now and I finally decided to sub-contract out some of my demolition. To my (nearly) 80 year old mother.

Ripping out drywall with my nearly 80 year old mother, BETTY!
After I sent measurements of my kitchen to my kitchen designer Carol Reed, she mentioned that the wall between my kitchen and my dining room seemed to be an old exterior wall, based on how thick it was. I, being the kind of person I am, HAD to know. So at about 1 o'clock in the morning when I was feeling especially exuberant I attached a holesaw to my drill and started working at it. About 3.4 seconds later I was through the drywall and peeking into it with a flashlight.
BRICK. I saw BRICK. It was pretty much the best Peep Show I've ever been to. Only sexier. Because brick walls, the lingerie of the design world, are sexy. Rip that clothing off and reveal the lingerie!
The drywall was coming down to expose the sexy brick wall for all to see. In a few days I'll show you the results of that ripping, tugging and peeping.
Brick porn. Hotter than a pot full of steaming hotdog water.
I don't sweat as much as I used to, arthritis, so I make up for it by swearing...and I loooove making stuff!😊
I've just been swearing at my iPad because it won't allow me to watch Betty destroy the kitchen wall!
It used to think I lived in Quebec and every new website was in French, then I noticed it was directing me to stores nearest to me that were located near Toronto!
I live in a small town, west of Ottawa calked Almonte, best kept secret ever! But, I digress....just now the reason it gave for not permitting the video to be played was that it contained VMG content....whatever that is...and not licensed for my country!
Karen, you seem quite resourceful....how do I convince my iPad of my true location?
I know Almonte well! Well, not well, but I did host a makeover show years ago called Stylin' Gypsies and one of the locations we shot in for a few days was Almonte. :) So. Your iPad. Without being right there, I'm not exactly sure what you can do I'm afraid. The first thing I would do is look at the location settings on the iPad. Settings > Privacy > Location Services (On) > Then check all the things you want to know your location. Give that a shot if you haven't done that before! ~ karen

Almonte has grown but the heart has not changed; still full of amazing, friendly, trusting people....and true hardy Canadians! We are having the ? 29th edition of an outdoor Christmas Concert this Friday...." Light Up the Night", free admission, hot drinks , music, fireworks, on Mill St which will be closed to traffic...shameless advertising for my adopted town!

Wear a facemask next time as there may be asbestos in old plaster. Is that a supporting brick wall? If so be careful that the house might sag if you play with it. LOL
Hey Leo, not to worry it was relatively new drywall. The kitchen is a fairly recent addition. Certainly not older than 3 or 400 years. ~ karen!
