Westbound lanes of I-4 in Plant City reopen after morning crash

Troopers had closed all lanes after a three-vehicle crash near the Thonotosassa Road exit.

Troopers have reopened the westbound lanes of Interstate 4 in Plant City after a three-vehicle crash Thursday morning.

Troopers were dispatched shortly after 6 a.m. to the crash at mile marker 19 near the Thonotosassa Road exit, according to a highway patrol news release. The driver of a Hyundai minivan heading west failed to halt for stopped traffic and crashed into the back of a Chevy Tahoe and then into a Chevy Silverado.

Occupants of the Hyundai and Chevy Tahoe were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Silverado had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Troopers initially closed all westbound lanes. By 8 a.m., troopers were allowing traffic to pass the crash scene on the shoulder, according to Spectrum Bay News 9.

All lanes were reopened by about 10 a.m.
