Your Outdoor Photos: October 2024

The Inland Northwest is full of flora, fauna, waters, scenery and active people out to savor it all. Please visit this gallery regularly to share photos of your wild experiences, learning moments, hot discoveries, favorite trips. Help us build a visual tour of what's so great about the outdoors in this region through all four seasons. This photo gallery will be an inspiration to some people. To others it will be a reminder of why we love to live here – and get outside as much as possible.

  • Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS just after sunset on the 13th of October. Taken in the Garland District. The comet will be visible higher above the horizon each night in the up coming days. It is currently visible with the naked eye, but much better in a pair of binoculars.

  • An almost 180 degree panorama made up of 5 individual photos stitched together into a mosaic. Each photo was about two seconds in length and the camera took a while to save as it was using noise reduction. The photo were taken the night of Thursday October 10 just west of Spangle, WA. Notice the how bright the aurora is compared to the Pleiades. This looks like a tiny Big Dipper on the right side of the image.

  • It always seems so out of place to see a Blue Heron in a tree but that's where this one was when I visited Queen Lucas Lake, located at the end of the Fish Lake Trail, the second week of October
