Camâron (born February 4, 1976) is the stage name of American hip-hop rapper Cameron Giles. Known as the leader of the rap groups The Diplomats and The U.N (Us Now), Cam'ron hails from Harlem, New York, U.S.
Unable to find success through traditional means Camâron turning to rapping in the mid-â90s alongside Big L, Mase, and his cousin Bloodshed. Together the group performed under the moniker Children Of The Corn before Bloodshedâs untimely death in a car accident in 1997. The same year Camâron was introduced by Mase to The Notorious B.I.G. and ultimately signed to Biggieâs business partner Lance âUnâ Riveraâs Untertainment label. In 1998 the rapper released his debut album âConfessions of Fireâ which landed at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. The album spawned the singles â3-5-7â and âHorse and Carriageâ, propelling Camâron to national success.
Camâron sophomore âS.D.E (Sports Drugs & Entertainment)â followed in 2000 with contributions from Destinyâs Child, Juelz Santana, and Jim Jones. Despite not achieving the success of its predecessor, Camâron subsequently signed with Roc-A-Fella Records in 2001, in addition to his hip-hop group The Diplomats, comprised of Camâron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, and Freaky Zeeky. Featuring vocal and production contributions from the likes of Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel, Just Blaze, Kanye West, and The Heatmakerz, Camâron third full-length album âCome Home with Meâ was issued in 2002. Marking Camâronâs most successful record to date, the album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, aided by the smash hits âOh Boyâ and âHey Maâ.
With the exposure afforded to him by the success of âCome Home with Meâ Camâronâs The Diplomats released their debut full-length âDiplomatic Immunityâ in 2003. The album once again utilised the production abilities of Just Blaze, Kanye West, and The Heatmakerz, debuted at No. Eight on the Billboard 200, and was described as an instant classic by a host of music periodicals. The Diplomatsâ follow-up arrived a year later in 2004 entitled âDiplomatic Immunity 2â, which despite earning stronger reviews than its predecessor peaked at only No. 46 on the Billboard 200.
Throughout the 2000s, Camâron continued to release new material including the popular âPurple Hazeâ in 2004, âKilla Seasonâ in 2006, and âCrime Paysâ in 2009. After forming the group The U.N. (Us Now) alongside rapper Vado, Camâron released the collaborative studio album âHeat In Here Vol. 1âin 2010. A year later in another collaboration with Vado, the rapper released the album âGunz nâ Buttaâ produced by AraabMazik. The album earned respectable reviews and spawned the singles âSpeaking in Tonguesâ, âWe All Up In Hereâ, and âHey Mumaâ.
Read moreTo the wider world, heâs probably best-known for his 2001 smash âHey Maâ, but the truth is, in the hip hop world, Camâron has long been one if its most colourful character. Itâs actually surprising that heâs managed to make much music, given the amount of time heâs dedicated to high-profile beefs with the likes of Jay Z, Jim Jones, 50 Cent and Kanye West - not to mention the controversy generated when he was shot in a failed carjacking attempt in 2005, when he would later refuse to help the police locate his shooter - but he has indeed turned out ten full-lengths, with the long-awaited Killa Season 2 slated to drop later this year. In the meantime, though, heâs keeping himself busy by hitting the road, with a slew of Canadian dates lined up for throughout August. If past form is anything to go by, heâll either keep it minimal - running through his back catalogue with the help only of a turntablist and eschewing the traditional hype man - or heâll bring an entourage with him, with members of The Diplomats known to join him from time to time. He hasnât toured the UK properly for some time, but when Killa Season 2 finally drops, he might well cross the pond to promote it; hip hop heads should keep their fingers crossed.
Cameron Ezike Giles better known by his stage name Cam'ron has been a huge name in hip hop since the 90s, being the leader of two East Coast groups including U.N and The Diplomats. He has remained involved through his twenty year career and despite numerous responsibilities, he still sees the need to head out onto the road for his fans who holds in a high acclaim.
There are some fans present tonight who may have been at Cam'ron's very first shows at the East Coast as they cheer loudly as the confident performer walks onto the stage and absorbs the great atmosphere. The lights fall immediately onto Cam and his entourage as they get into stance to really give the crowd a truly memorable performance. Unlike some other rappers, Cam seems to really care about the audience and involves them through the show as he gets a kick when they are having a great time and the energy levels rise expectedly. He closes with his most successful track to date 'Hey Ma' and the whole room goes totally wild.
Not going to lie I was very disappointed with the Smokers Club Tour 2016 in Dallas with Cam'ron, waited from 7:00pm-12:30am to finally hear him rap. He only performed four song. I paid $90 buck for four songs and 5 wasted hours. Plus I paid for the smokers club vip pack where I would get a t-shirt, magazine, astray, lighter, rolling papers, stickers and vip laminate. The only thing I got was lighters, some rolling paper, and a used astray! I still love Cam'ron dearly but this concert sucked balls, I will never go to a Smokers Club or Cam'ron concert ever again.
Best night of my life. I was able to meet Cam'ron and he was a stand up guy. He actually stopped to shake my hand. I told him I am naming my son (Cameron) after him and can you believe he replied that my son's due date is the same as his sons birthday. This brother actually took a moment to spend with your boy.... NO HOMO!!! The bouncers, staff, and bar maids were an absolute pleasure. Killa put on an excellent show. Flea did all the classics and I cant wait until he comes back after the album drops. Flea what's really good???
The show was awesome and I don't get to see Cameron it was a blast and a the dj was on fire the entire night I was there and when I got there the club was hopping when the music was playing and the artists were really good and I took a buddy of mine from work to see it with me and we had a great time while we were there
Went w/ my daddy & older sister, who are both big Killa Cam fans. Man when I tell you we had a mfn blast. Killa energy was too live for us that night. You could tell Cam was getting hot performing in his Polo Velour sweatsuit, but I promise you that didn't shorten the show! #DIPSET #DIPSET #DIPSET
The performance was good. It was too short and very disappointing to wait all night for 10 minutes of music from dipset.
Not worth the money or the drive. I bought the tickets for my man and he was disappointed with the show.
