Legacy Community Health Streamlines Operations, Improves Patient Experience with SmartSense

Legacy Community Health was experiencing issues with their data loggers not reporting, not being on. They were paying for a service that really never worked. Unsatisfied with their faulty solution, they examined 15 different potential new vendors. SmartSense came out as the winner. During the trial period, the Legacy team tried to get SmartSense devices to fail and repeatedly tested them in the spots where the previous solution had continually failed. They couldn’t get SmartSense to fail. Connectivity remained constant in even the toughest of locations. SmartSense has lightened the Legacy team’s workload and helped them streamline their operations.

[Benjamin Stewart] Benjamin Stewart, Chief of Staff with Legacy Community Health. We're always trying to make things better for our patient experience or enhance what they're getting out of us. We got a bunch of clinic locations, so we're always trying to keep them up and running.

[Eric Howard] We have had issues with our data loggers in the past. Not reporting, not even being on. Paying for a service that just really never worked.

[Benjamin Stewart] We have a really hard time with keeping all of our different data loggers and temperature trackers connected to us. So, it's a lot of driving around at different sites and having to download data into thumb drives or whatever it might be, and we were looking to alleviate that. We had went through a lot of your competitors and were not happy with the service, the product, or the outcome that we were getting from any of them.

[Eric Howard] After we looked at about 15 different companies, we were kind of at the end of the line. And I think by chance, SmartSense came up in conversation with some of the execs in our company. Tried to get y'all's devices to fail many times. That was my instruction to my team is put it in the spots where we know that they have never worked before...they worked. For me, it's being able to provide both my managers with a product that works to make their job easier, streamlining our operations.

[Benjamin Stewart] They've been extremely receptive on-site, picking up phone calls, answering our questions. It's not this, like , 2 or 3 week lag that we were running to in the past.

[Eric Howard] We have a small team on both sides. Biomed, which is over the data loggers, is an extremely small team. Feeling that we have chosen the right company, it makes me happy for my team because their workload has lessened greatly because of SmartSense.

[Benjamin Stewart] Less overtime, less driving, less downtime, it's been a much more smooth and enhanced offering.

[Eric Howard] I like that y'all use the word partners because in our company, we have very small budgets, and so we heavily rely on our vendors to help us perform our mission and to get that done. So honestly, I feel like y'all as one of our vendors has been with us for a few years now.

90K+ sites continuously monitored

SmartSense by Digi manages more than 90K+ sites for leading brands in healthcare, retail, food service, education, and transportation and logistics.

Before we had SmartSense, we had to travel to multiple locations monthly to collect the information we needed to monitor and manage critical temperature measurements for our Vaccines for Children (VFC) program. Not only did the SmartSense solution eliminate hours of labor gathering data on-site, but it gave our management team confidence in the integrity of the temperature logs, providing them with centralized visibility into the operations across multiple sites.

We've been through other technologies, and we've seen challenges associated with connectivity. We've seen challenges associated with reliability, and we have not seen those challenges since our implementation of SmartSense. Given the previous experiences Vail Health has had with other IoT solutions, we wish we would have gone to SmartSense a long time ago. We truly value the partnership and look forward to continued engagement to ensure that we're managing all the safety and compliance for the facility.
