Everything in life happens an infinite number of times, but we do not. We die at the end of this, so tell that cheater to fuck themselves, befriend the 'other' woman, read the books you want, eat what you want. Shoot your shot at all of your heart's desires. The greatest love of your life will be from a dog who looks at you like sunlight bends around you.

Light a candle, one that smells like you’re burying yourself in the earth below an oak. Crack the window slightly open; feel the cold on your skin, it is a reminder that you are alive. Feel the ancient ache in your bones, it calls for warmth, may it be fire, or the flesh of a lover.

Witness an artist coming to terms with his impending death and how he must relearn the world around him, but most importantly the relationship he has with himself. This small book is haunting, but it will hopefully push you to go out into the desert this winter. If you do, I hope you think of David Wojnarowicz.

Here is the work of a woman who attempted to translate the violence the world subjected her to into a strange beauty. How surreal life can be with its waves of horror, yet as the next wave builds, there is magic. She is the definition of an esoteric lover, a romantic crawling out of the moss.

This one is for all those who have experienced yearning so intensely that they wish to run deep into the woods and become one with it. Grief and an all consuming longing for life can only exist in the presence of an immense love, nothing else can fuel that. Dip your fingers in it and devour it whole.

Please disregard the corny horrendous wolf on the cover, it does nothing to covey the nature of these stories. It requires something frightening, yet alluring in its primordial beauty. Teeth so sharp that you want them to pierce your skin, to feel the fur make its way past your flesh and blood, to welcome it into the safety of your rib cage and have it burrow around your heart. To have this feral creature safe within you, because it has found its match in the chambers of your chest.

The portrayal of the March sisters and their complex relationships with one another is astonishing. The accuracy in which Alcott captures sibling dynamics, from the bickering, fights, anxieties, joys, and love was ahead of its time. For each sister has her own unique personality but none are without faults and their efforts to overcome them makes each girl live beyond the page.

Opening up as a candid recounting of past lovers to a man whom she is trying to seduce, Babitz sweeps us through her life in these very specific moments like the Santa Ana winds. Capturing a bygone Los Angeles, Eve gives it a vibrant life even in the forgotten corners of the county. In the end, Babitz tells enough to win you over and embed herself in your memory of the bright burning ’60s and ’70s.

Sally Jay Gorce is hell-bent on living life by her own terms. Taking the picturesque streets of Paris, Sally Jay does just that. Falling in love, trying to find a sandwich in the middle of the night, and losing her passport, Sally’s comedic adventures will have you cheering for her cynicism to see her through.

These are vampires unlike any I have read before! The mythologies on each vampire subspecies is fleshed out as are the characters and their motivations. As a Mexican, I am incredibly biased when I say the Mexican vampires, the tlāhuihpochtli are the best of the subspecies. I've never dabbled in the neonoir genre, but this one had me counting down the minutes till I could drop whatever it was that I was doing so I could dive back into Moreno-Garcia's CDMX and see my girl Atl and her sweet Doberman, Cualli kick some colonizer ass.

Bora Chung has a remarkable ability to encapsulate how disgusting and funny it is to have a human body. These stories had me screaming, putting my book down to process what I just read, and many times I simply gasped and yelled, "Bora Chung is my god!" I bow at the steps of her temple.

The way this man wrote about nature is astounding. In these pages, we witness his return to the natural world, his undomestication from the societal norms of what our day to day should look like. This is so much more than a book about a truly magnificent bird, the peregrine, it captures how the capitalist greed to control nature for profit is destroying us and how vital it is for us to go back to growing with nature and her cycles. The ending left me in tears of utter joy and fed the growing desire to flee out of the city and go back to the coastal mountains.

"Entendí que conocer bien a una mujer supone conocerse a una misma." Después del asesinato de Paloma, una muxe curandera, nuestras dos narradores se cuentan sus vidas. Este libro es un testimonio del poder y la resistencia de una comunidad unida.

Where can I begin to explain this novel?! It’s a fascinating exploration of how nature, love, decay, grief, and time itself are all interwoven in a single portal. Lispector said her goal for this book was to fire an arrow that would sink into the tender and neuralgic center of the world, and I believe she did so much more.

This is the type of book that makes you wish you could read it in its original language. Some describe these poems as mythical, but they are wrong. Darwish evokes a longing for liberation, a profound yearning for Palestine and its displaced people, none of which are myth. Their strength and bravery are beautifully captured in these pages. Free Palestine

Think of these stories as a rustling in the bushes while walking in the dark. A howl waking you up from your sleep, the echoes burying themselves in the walls of your house. This one is for all my grotesque women.

THIS right here is the birth of the angsty and bad boy vampire! Through Louis's journey from mortal to immortal life, Rice captures the duality of what it means to be alive while dwelling in tragedy, self-loathing, existential dread, and love.

RIP David Foster Wallace, you would have really loved instagram filters.

An honest conversation on the life-altering, yet universal experience of grief following the death of a loved one. Nick Cave and Seán O'Hagan explore how grief can evolve into a creative force that brings mourning people together; lighting hope and compassion in a seemingly bleak world.

Sometimes revenge is all you need. R.I.P. Brandon Lee ♥

Mary Shelly originated a genre all of her own. A breed of science fiction that coexists with horror in which she questions human nature, free will, and the meaning of what it is to exist after the realization that we are all living in a world of isolation.

These essays all contain a sense of drawing out blood, a feral urge to scream into the night and dive into abandonment. They capture the complexities of trying to get to know oneself while everything around is changing. Hodson’s writing is the kind that makes you want to go out and fall in love.

Do you ever get that feeling when stories do not match up with lived experiences? It is not clear if you did something wrong, or the universe simply does not care about you. Selin is a relatable protagonist, not because she is who we would hope to be in fiction, rather because she is bewildered and trying to figure out who she is while trying to avoid falling into a cliche.

This book, like the act of cruising itself, is a powerful act of defiance towards the heteronormative ideals that dictate our society. Weaving his own lived experiences with the larger chronicle of cruising, Espinoza has recorded a history that has largely been neglected and erased. The love and care poured into the research of this work, translates into an in-depth read that feels like a candid conversation with a friend.
