The Broadway sensation is hitting the big screen. That’s right, 20 years after it premiered in California and shortly thereafter made its way to New York, “Wicked” is coming to movie theaters across the globe. Part one of the film premieres on Nov. 22, with the second part set to come out Nov. 21, 2025.

As fans of the musical prepare for the release, there are quite a few limited-time offerings happening to promote the film, some of which are exclusive to Southern California.

Events

Universal Studios Hollywood and CityWalk has turned into a major hub for “Wicked” fans. The Los Angeles theme park has transformed its restaurant Hollywood and Dine into a dining destination for “Wicked” themed food. The menu includes 9 new food and drink options including an apple pie funnel cake and an Ozmopolitian cocktail. Inside the park there is also an exclusive “Wicked” photo op in the main walkway area.

There are two merch stores for “Wicked” gear, the Feature Presentation store in the Production Plaza area at Universal Studios Hollywood and UNIVRS store at Universal CityWalk Hollywood, located next door to the Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe. The collection includes Elphaba and Glinda themed merchandise as well as Shiz University. Additionally, the Feature Presentation store will be showcasing props from the film.

Southern California is also on the list for the “Wicked” Weekend in-store listening parties happening Nov. 22-24. There are three Southern California music stores that will be participating, DBZ Books N Records in Corona, Spinning Plate Records in Covina and Midnite Moon in Idlyllwild. Fans who attend these listening parties are encouraged to wear pink and green attire. There will also be free giveaways for those who attend.

Build-A-Bear Workshop has two new plushes for fans to dress up in “Wicked” gear. There is a new green bear and stuffed bunny which can be dressed in Elphaba’s and Glinda’s costumes. Additionally they have some “Wicked” themed shirts to dress their stuffed animals in. Those who have visited Build-A-Bear before know one unique thing about the toy company is the ability to add a sound to the plush that plays when you squeeze its hand. In partnership with the film, there will be two song snippets available for this option, “Defying Gravity” sung by Cynthia Erivo and “Popular” sung by Ariana Grande.

Food and drinks

The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen at Universal CityWalk Hollywood is serving up a sweet treat for “Wicked” fans. Toothsome’s Ozitvely Pink & Green Shake is a strawberry key lime milkshake, with pink and green whipped topping, strawberry and Oreo crumbs and a white chocolate disk with the “Wicked” logo on top.

Voodoo Doughnuts hasn’t dropped its pink and green doughnuts in Southern California just yet, but fans in Florida have started sharing the “Wicked” collaboration on social media. The Enchantingly Emerald Donut is said to be a yeast doughnut with a sour apple filling, topped with green icing, whipped topping, black pearls and white chocolate “Wicked.” The Perfectly Pink Donut is a vanilla cake doughnut topped with pink icing, strawberry whipped topping decorated with pearls and a pink butterfly. Both doughnuts cost $4.50 from the VooDoo Doughnut shop at Universal Orlando.

Starbucks has a pink and green beverage duo for the film. Elphaba’s Cold Brew is a signature cold brew beverage with peppermint syrup topped with nondairy matcha cold foam. Glinda’s Pink Potion is a Starbucks Refresher beverage with mango, dragon fruit, coconutmilk and topped with a nondairy strawberry cold foam.

Bonefish Grill will be carrying two “Wicked” themed cocktails. The Ozmopolotian is a fun twist on the classic drink with vodka, rum, cranberry juice, sour mix, mango and a Glinda approved pink shimmer. The Oz’ Elixir has a similar base of vodka and rum, but different from the Ozmopolotian has pineapple juice, lime and green apple flavors. Additionally the drink is Elphaba green with some sparkle to match.

London West Hollywood is hosting a Wicked Witches Afternoon tea. The tea is $84 for adults and $42 for children 12 and under. The menu includes London Tea Sandwiches such as the Matcha Green Tea Crêpe and Smoked Salmon with Crème Fraîche, as well as items specific to the theme such as The Good Witch Meringue Tart and the Flying Monkey Frozen Souffle.

Movie theaters

As has been the trend with recent blockbuster films, movie theaters across the country are each providing exclusive merchandise such as popcorn buckets, souvenir cups and more to entice fans to see the film at their theater. Here’s a run down of who has what.

Alamo DraftHouse is hosting a “Wicked” themed brunch for those who want to see the film in the a.m. The movie party is said to include “singing, green-tinted glasses, pink bubbles, Shiz University notebooks, and even broom pens.” Additionally, Alamo is selling a “Wicked” lunch pail and thermos.

AMC movie theaters will have a few beverage options to go along with the film. There will be two Sprite concoctions, the pink Ozdust Punch and the green Emerald Elixir. Additionally, the theater will also offer an Enchanted Green Apple ICEE. Snacks wise, AMC will be selling a pink and green candy-coated popcorn mix, sprinkled with Ozdust glitter. As for merchandise, there will be two popcorn tins and signature cups themed around both Elphaba and Glinda. Fans who attend an early screening of the film at AMC on Nov. 20 will also receive a LEGO set of Elphaba’s bottle and Glinda’s flower.

Exclusive to the AMC at CityWalk Hollywood will be costumes on display worn by the films lead actors Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey and Ethan Slater.

Regal Cinema has a variety of collectible “Wicked” popcorn tins and souvenir sippers available for purchase. Exclusive menu items include a twisted churro topped with a green icing drizzle and pink sprinkles and their caramel popcorn in pink and green. Those who purchase their ticket between Oct. 14 and Nov. 24 will receive a free “Wicked” digital card. Regal is showing the film in SCREENX, a unique viewing experience that extends the screen of the movie along the walls of the cinema. Fans who watch the film in SCREENX on will get an exclusive collectible foam headband of either Glinda’s crown or Elphaba’s witch hat.

AMC and Regal are also both selling a pair of Glinda and Elphaba pins for $3 each with proceeds going to Variety — the Children’s Charity.

Cinemark will have two popcorn buckets for sale, one of which is the Double Wall Light Up Popcorn Bucket which illuminates. For souvenir cups they will be selling a “Wicked” cup that comes with a straw, a double wall tumbler, and an ICEE cup.

The movie chain is also selling two themed cocktails the green Shizz Fizz made with Jameson and the pink Oz-Stentatious thats made with Malibu. There are also souvenir cups that are sold seperately for the drinks for and additional $6.

Another Cinemark exclusive is two “Wicked” hand carved cherry wood wands made with Swarovski Crystals. There is a pink and green option of the wands for aspiring witches and wizards. Other merchandise includes “Wicked” themed pins, a plus toy and a witch hat.

Harkins Cerritos is hosting a Wicked Movie Party on Saturday, Nov. 23. The package will include addmission to the film, movie-themed photo opportunities and a Wicked-themed cocktail or mocktail. The two cocktails are the POP-U-LAR Punch which is a blend of Pinot Grigio, Reàl Lychee purée, lime juice, grenadine and mint and the Emerald City Mule which is a mix of Pinot Grigio, sour apple syrup, blue curaçao, ginger beer and maraschino cherry.

Admission for the Wicked Movie Party is $29 and there are three time slots available with festivities starting at 11 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m and the film starting 30 minutes later.

Stitch and Screen is a Los Angeles based craft group that organizes group movie outings to work on their projects, such as knitting, crochete, and cross stitching, while watching a film on the big screen. The group is organizing a “Wicked” viewing party on Dec. 8 at the AMC Burbank Town Center 8.

After watching the movie fan might to want to relive the magic or are eager to see what happens in part two. For those who can’t wait until 2025, the touring production of “Wicked” is returning to the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood from Dec. 4 through Feb. 2.
