The Swan Valley Christian Singers presented their fifth annual Christmas concert Sunday with performances before packed houses at the Condon Faith Lutheran Church and at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Seeley Lake. This photo was taken during the evening performance in Seeley.

The meaning of Christmas to children of the community Seeley Lake Elementary School Mrs. Pena’s 6th Grade Class

What Christmas means to me is family, friends and giving. On Christmas at my house everyone gets something. After opening presents, we go over to the neighbors and play bingo. Then also, we usually have some family come down for about two weeks. We always go snowmobiling on Christmas out in a big field. It is a lot of fun. At my neighbor’s house, we also get things for each other. Then we go back home, have dinner and some fun things. That is what Christmas means to me.

There are three reasons why I like Christmas. One because you can go to Big Mountain, Vale, Discovery, Blacktail and a whole bunch of others for skiing, snowmobiling and snowboarding. The second reason is because you get presents, clothes and dresses. Beautiful gifts from other people.The main reason though is because Jesus was born on Dec. 25. Christmas is not always about getting spoiled rotten.

One thing that is the greatest to me on Christmas is my family and my pets “Fatso” and “Gilbert”. On Christmas we don’t go anywhere. We always have a big Christmas at home. My Dad doesn’t have to work. That makes me very happy. My Mom, Dad, Chance, Fatso, Gilbert and I always get a lot of presents. On Christmas we always have a big dinner. These are some reasons that Christmas is the greatest.

Another thing that I like about Christmas is what we do. We usually go snowmobiling on Christmas Eve. And we open presents on Christmas Eve.

Christmas is special to me because it’s a time of gathering and laughs. Most of the time we have an ordinary Christmas like opening all the presents on Christmas morning, but sometimes we can open only one present the night before Christmas.

My grandmother (on Mom’s side) sends us presents one or two weeks early. She sends us things like clothing, books, toys and things for the dogs, too. Speaking of my dogs, they love Christmas too because we (my dogs and I) get to go outside and play in the snow.

I have a lot of reasons why Christmas is special to me. These are just a sample of what Christmas means to me.

Christmas to me is not all about toys, food and parties. It’s about celebrating Jesus Christ and having family over too so we can all be together on a very special holiday. I do wish, though, that my Dad, and brother could come see us, but in my dreams and my heart I see us all having fun.

What Christmas means to me is that sometimes I get to see my whole family. My family means a lot to me. I mean that. My family is my whole life. If I didn’t have them, I would be dead right now. They have helped me through everything. Yeah, they have beaten me up (just my brothers) but it is to make me strong.

Those aren’t the only reasons Christmas means so much to me. The other reason Christmas means so much to me is the presents. I know that my presents just don’t buy themselves, and I know that my parents spend a lot on me. They go through so much trouble and I do nothing for them. I’m planning to do something for them this year.

Christmas is one of my favorite seasons! To me Christmas does not mean presents or getting money. It means family. On Christmas I like to spend time with family and friends.

On Christmas I usually wake up, eat a nice breakfast, get some hot chocolate made to drink, open presents, play out in the snow for a while, hang out with friends and stay up late. I really like Christmas and I always will!

One of the reasons I like Christmas is that it is Jesus’ birthday. I like Christmas because I can hang out with my family and go snowmobiling. I also like Christmas because we can open gifts and have a big dinner.

We have our family come down and I can hang out with kids my age. When my family comes, the kids and I do stuff that is crazy. We like to tackle each other and throw each other on the ground. Our family has snowball fights.

I like to tackle my friends and family. Last time we did it, my cousin and I threw each other on our bed and we came down both of us hit our head on the dresser. We had bumps on our heads for a week. These are the reasons I like Christmas.
