Samantha is originally from Philadelphia and moved to New York in 1991 to attend The Cooper Union. After graduating she travelled around Europe and soon found her first job in Toronto, Ontario working with a boutique design firm called Dinnick & Howells. After three years in Canada it was time to head back to New York and at 26 years old Samantha landed her first job as an art director at a small advertising and design firm that did much of its work with art galleries and museums around New York City. She worked on dozens of announcements, catalogues, and ads for clients like The Frick Collection, The Guggenheim Museum, Sotheby\u2019s, Greenberg Van Doren Gallery, Babcock Galleries, and many more. At this firm Samantha met Kimberley Sanderson Hutfilz and in 2004 they opened Celandine, Inc. Celandine, meaning \u201Cjoys to come\u201D in The Language of Flowers, focused greatly on events in the art, fashion and non-profit sector, as well as many, many personal celebrations like weddings, baby announcements, and monumental birthdays and anniversaries. Some of their clients include Dior, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Princess Grace Foundation, Sothebys, Prudential Douglas Elliman, Seeds of Peace, Women In Need, The St. Regis, and Sopexa USA. Kim and Sam closed Celandine\u2019s doors after over nine years due to growing families and the desire to spend more time with their children, but continue to be the best of friends and still collaborate on special projects.
