NORTHERN ZAMBIA UNION CONFERENCE

ADVENTIST MEN ORGANISATION (AMO) GUIDELINES


The following are the Adventist Men Organisation
(AMO) guidelines that were developed on September
11, 2012 by the Conference/ Field Personal Ministries
Directors in Zambia Union Conference, and approved
on November 27, 2012 by Zambia Union Conference
Year-End Executive Committee.
1.AMO members should sign the AMO pledge.
2.AMO members shall be members of Seventh-Day Church in
regular standing.
3.AMO members who become habitual in resigning from AMO
shall be referred to the pastor or elder for counseling before
re-joining.
4.AMO workers who breach the regulations will be
admonished by the AMO leaders before being referred to
elder and pastor.
5.AMO leadership shall encourage and ensure regular

age of 16 years.
7. Church leaders shall be encouraged to join AMO.
8. As subsidiary of the Personal Ministries Department, AMO
shall report to the Personal Ministries Leader.
9. Where as AMO is engaged in many activities, they form
sub- groups to address the various needs.
10. AMO work shall comprise of community service such as
helping the needy and the poor, visiting the sick,
conducting and preaching in efforts, prison ministry,
outreach and other evangelistic programmes as outlined in
11. Only full paid-up active AMO members shall be elected
to positions.
12. AMO workers shall consult with local leadership when
visiting other AMO groups.
13. Non-baptised AMO members can participate in
community service work but shall not wear AMO
uniform.
14. AMO meetings or community service outreach
programmes should be held twice a week (preferably
Sundays and any other day).
15. The following order of service shall be followed during
the weekly meetings:
i. Opening Song
ii. Prayer
iii. Bible reading
iv. Activity for the day
v. Closing Song
vi. Prayer
16. Offering shall be collected on one day of the two
meeting days selected for AMO weekly meetings or
community outreach programmes.
17. AMO members who miss during preparation activities
for any special programme shall not be allowed to
participate during that special programme.
18. Inactive AMO leaders should be replaced by the Church
Board if the trend continues.
19. AMO uniform shall consist of:

i. A navy-blue suit
ii.White shirt
iii.Black shoes
iv.Navy blue socks, and
v. Maroon neck tie (Not ordinally maroon tie, but a special
AMO tie with AMO shield with printed letters AMO on it)
During community service the AMO worker shall wear
a white T-Shirt with a collar with navy-blue trousers.
The AMO uniform shall be worn by only fully paid up
members.
20. When to wear AMO uniform. (The AMO leaders shall
advise but generally the instances shall include):
a.First Sabbath of the month.
b.During weekly meetings
c. At funerals when asked to do so
d.When preaching
e.While visiting public institutions
f. When travelling to AMO meetings
21. When not to wear AMO uniform- as advised by the AMO
leadership.
22. Resignations – any member who resigns shall stop to wear
the AMO uniform.
23. Community service badges and pins are not only used by AMO
but shall also be used by others involved in community service
activities.
24. Local AMO Leaders, Secretaries and Treasurers shall be
members of the District AMO Federation.
25. General meetings and rallies are for all members of the AMO.
26. AMO members shall wear uniforms and participate in
