BEHAVIOR

WHAT IS ATTITUDE
. “Attitude represents how a person thinks or feels
about someone or something”.
• When a person feels about something, about a place and a situation or
an idea is called attitude.
. Attitude is a person’s mental outlook, which defines the way we think or feel
anything .Education, experience and environment are the major factors that affects
a person’s attitude.
WHAT IS BEHAVIOR
• “Behavior represents an individual’s reaction to a particular action, person or
environment”.

• Behavior is the manner of acting or controlling oneself towards other people. It


is essentially , any output of the brain.

• In short, behavior is a individual or group reaction to inputs such as an action,


environment or stimulus which can be internal or external, voluntary or
involuntary conscious or subconscious.
NATURE OF ATTITUDE

• It helps in motivation.
• It ranges from strongly positive to strongly negative.
• It is different according to stimuli.
• Attitudes have a subject object relationship.it is related to a specific
objects, person , groups , institutions, values etc.
DEVELOPMENT OF ATTITUDE
Attitudes are learned and acquired through the following sources:

• Trauma or dramatic experiences :- Example:- A shopkeeper may develop a negative


attitude towards students if his shops were burnt by students during a strike.

• Integration of experiences:- acquired from different experiences of different people


from different sources. Attitude of Hindu towards Muslims and vice- versa.

• Differentiation of experiences:- when new experiences are acquired they are


differentiated segregated from the old acquired one and more specific attitude is
formed.
FACTOR AFFECTING ATTITUDE
FORMATION
A. Factors within the individual
. Physical growth and development :- Poor health, poor adjustment may develop
poor attitudes.
. Emotional development :- Factors such as emotional maturity social
adjustment, social approval etc.
. Social development:- Factors such as social interaction may create anti social
attitudes.
. Intellectual development:- Factors such as memory , understanding , thinking
capacity , reasoning ability etc.
B. FACTORS IN THE ENVIRONMENT

• Home and family:- Values and concepts in the family, attitude of the
family members . Facility in the upbringing of child and unhealthy
family relationship.

• Social environment:- chool , teachers , classmates, teaching


methods , curriculum & subjects etc. it also include religious group,
social clubs , mass media, celebrities, advertisements and newspaper.

CONCLUSION
So, with the above discussion , it is clear that whatever you say or do , conveys a
message to world about what’s running in your mind. It is universally accepted fact
that our emotions, opinions and thoughts cannot be observed, which shows our
attitude.
Further our behavior, is ruled by our attitude as his/her actions are the reflection of
his/her thoughts.
Studies have demonstrated that in some cases, pointing out inconsistencies between
attitudes and behavior can redirect the behavior in the case of schools supporter,
showing that their actions (i.e. not voting , not attending parent teacher meetings)
are harming rather than helping efforts to improve education in their town may
influence them to re-evaluate their behavior, so that will reflect their attitudes
