Disaster Skills Description:

The ability to effectively respond in an emergency that relies on


risk assessment, situational awareness, planning and
preparedness. This course will introduce the Basics of First Aid
and Emergency Care that will help students to recognize and
respond to any emergency appropriately.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrates basic knowledge of disaster activities from incident response
to recovery operations.
2. By focusing on the application of knowledge and skills learned in a course
and on the integration of knowledge and skills with other areas
3. Able to understand how and when to administer first aid
4. Able to provide appropriate treatment for the purpose of preserving life
5. Able to minimize the consequences of injury until the arrival of medical
assistance
6. Able to provide appropriate treatment for an injury which does not require
the attention of a medical practitioner or nurse

What to Expect on Skills Lab:
1. Didactic will be the first one to do per topic
Skills Topic:
a. Basic First Aid/ Basic Life Support (BLS)
b. Emergency, Rescue and Transfer
c. Bandaging

2. Return Demonstration ( BLS and Bandaging)


3 days allotted per Skills

3. Self- Directed Learning (SDL)


-allotted total of 10 hours
a. BLS – 3 hours
b. ERT – 4 hours
c. Bandaging – 3 hours
Note: Please provide your own triangular bandage for the return
demonstration : Standard triangular bandage Size: 1meter 4x4 or 40in
x 40 in x 56 in

4. Face to Face
Guidelines:
a. Students and Faculty should be Fully Vaccinated to participate in F2F
Skills Lab
b. If symptomatic, do not attend F2F inform concern Faculty ahead of `
time.
c. No holding area, Strictly follow the assign time and after demo
go home immediately.
Note: F2F Microteaching of Bandaging will be conducted during Midterm
Consultation week
