WHAT IS COVID-19 ?
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by
severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Most people
who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and
recover without special treatment . The virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly
transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs,
sneezes, or exhales. These drop-lets are too heavy to hang in the air, and
quickly fall on floors or surfaces.
You can be infected by breathing in the virus if you are within close
proximity of someone who has COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated
surface.

SCHOOL CLOSURES HAS NOT IMPACT ONLY STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND
FAMILIES , IT HAS ALSO SHED LIGHT ON VARIOUS SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC
ISSUES ALSO, LIKE HOMELESSNESS, CHILDCARE, HEALTH CARE, HOUSING,
INTERNET, AND DISABILITY SERVICES.
THE IMPACT WAS MORE SEVERE FOR DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN AND
THEIR FAMILIES, CAUSING INTERRUPTED LEARNING, COMPROMISED
NUTRITION, CHILDCARE PROBLEMS, AND CONSEQUENT ECONOMIC COST
TO FAMILIES WHO COULD NOT WORK.
IN RESPONSE TO SCHOOL CLOSURES, UNESCO RECOMMENDED THE USE OF
DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAMMES AND OPEN EDUCATIONAL
APPLICATIONS AND PLATFORMS THAT SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS CAN USE
TO REACH LEARNERS REMOTELY AND LIMIT THE DISRUPTION OF
EDUCATION.
AS SCHOOLS WERE CLOSED, STUDENTS WERE FORCED TO SIT ACROSS A
COMPUTER SCREEN FOR 5-6 HOURS AS A PART OF ONLINE CLASSES.
