INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Generation Z students are those born between 1996 and 2010 (Pruett,
2018). According to the FEU Public Policy Center (2014), 17 percent of Gen
Zers do not discuss politics while 25 percent agreed that being updated on
political affairs are important. Furthermore, 39 percent of respondents are
updated with the current political affairs. In connection to this, Pew Research
Center (2019) says that 70 percent of American Gen Zers wanted to be more
alarmed and be able to solve more political issues.
Thus, without political awareness, opinions and concerns from the
citizens, the government officials will not be able to develop their leadership
skills. Also, without political awareness, the citizens are giving a way to the
officials to abuse their power and influence.
