7 October 2003, the 10 heads ASEAN countries
signed the Declaration of ASEAN Concord II a
21 November 2007, the signing and adoption of
the blueprint to implement ASEAN Economic
Community by 2015
The AEC blueprint provides the implementing
mechanism to transform ASEAN into a single
market and production base
Impact to Education and Profession
ASEAN has 6,500 higher education institutions having
about 12 million students
ASEAN is envisioning a Common Space of Higher
Education in Southeast Asia
The five (5) AEC core elements also include the free
flow of services and free flow of skilled labor
The AEC blueprint specifies the implementation of
mutual recognition agreements (MRA) for various
services and other professional services by 2015.
