Reading Month Celebration 2025

Theme: “Reading is the Key to Lifelong Learning”

CONTEST GUIDELINES

1. Spelling Bee (Grades 2–6)


Mechanics:

 - Individual contest.
 - Words progress from easy to difficult.
 - Two incorrect attempts = elimination.
 - Last speller standing wins.

Criteria for Judging:

Accuracy in spelling 100%

2. Storytelling (Kindergarten–Grade 3)
Mechanics:

 - Contestants narrate a story (3–5 minutes).


 - No reading allowed; must be memorized.
 - Props/costumes optional.

Criteria for Judging:

Delivery & Voice Projection 40%
Creativity & Use of Props 30%
Mastery of Story 20%
Stage Presence 10%

3. Story Retelling (Grades 3–5)


Mechanics:

 - Contestants listen to a story or watch a short narrative.


 - They retell in their own words (3–4 minutes).

Criteria for Judging:


Criteria Percentage
Sequencing & Organization 40%
Accuracy of Details 30%
Delivery & Expression 20%
Stage Presence 10%

4. Interpretative Reading (Grades 4–6)


Mechanics:

 - Contestants read aloud a prepared piece (poem/prose).


 - Must show clarity, fluency, and emotion.
 - Time limit: 3–5 minutes.

Criteria for Judging:

Voice, Pronunciation, Clarity 40%
Expression & Interpretation 40%
Stage Presence 20%

5. Bookmark Making (Grades 2–6)


Mechanics:

 - Individual entry.
 - Theme-based design.
 - On-the-spot contest.
 - No tracing/digital design.

Criteria for Judging:

Creativity & Originality 30%
Neatness & Presentation 20%
Overall Impact 10%

6. Poster Making (Grades 4–6)


Mechanics:

 - Individual entry.
 - Size: ¼ illustration board.
 - Theme-based design.
 - 2 hours maximum.

Criteria for Judging:

Originality & Creativity 30%
Visual Impact 20%
Neatness & Presentation 10%

7. Best in Costume (Per Grade Level)


Mechanics:

 - Open to all learners.


 - Dress as a book character.
 - Short self-introduction (1–2 sentences).
 - Safe, decent costumes only.

Criteria for Judging:
