B. Establishing a purpose for Balance a ball on a table. Directions: Analyze the picture
the lesson below. Answer the following
questions in your science
notebook.
Is the ball moving?
(Teacher will push the ball)
What is used for the ball to move?
Answer: Force
Force is use to help us in our daily 1. What did the boy do in order to
activities. Like what we did to the move with the skateboard?
ball which we exerted force unto Answer: The boy used force to
it to move. And there is motion move the skateboard.
happens.
2. How can you measure the
speed of the skateboarder?
Answer: We can measure the
speed by its time and distance.
C. Presenting examples/ Now look at the example. Based on the given figure or
instances of the new lesson picture, we can measure the
speed by its time and distance.
Let’s Discuss about it.
Did the person portraying/showing
motion?
How?
The boy is running that is why it
shows motion. It moves from the
starting point to where it stops.
D. Discussing new concepts Observed and compare the
and practicing new skills.#1 following figures.
What can you say on the first
figure?
Answer: The ballpens are on the of
the books.
How about on the 2nd figure?
Answer: The ballpen are on the
side of the books.
Very Good!
Is there a change happens on the
place of ballpens?
Answer: Yes, there is, it changed in
position. The ballpens on the first
figure were on top and figure 2
shows changes in the position of
ballpens.
Very Good!
Motion
Is a change in a position with
respect to its reference point.
E. Discussing new concepts Types of Motion
and practicing new skills Rectilinear Motion
#2. Movement of an object
along a straight line.
Examples;
Jogging or driving in one direction
Circular Motion
Objects moves around a
fixed point such that its distance
from the center remains the same.
Examples;
Ferris Wheel
The formula speed can be
rearranged, just like any other
equation. It can be
rearranged in three ways:
Earth and Moon
1.) speed = distance ÷ time
Periodic Motion
2.) distance = speed × time
Motion that repeats itself
3.) time = distance ÷ speed
after definite time intervals.
Example:
Pendulum
Rolling Motion
Combination of rectilinear
and circular motion.
Example;
Rolling Wheel

G. Finding practical Cite activities that show motion? The Amazing Marble
application of concepts Example; Running
What you need:
and skills in daily living
3 books of equal thickness
1 marble
2 rulers of the same size
1 tape measure
What to do:
1. Gather all the materials
needed.
2. Place the two rulers on a book
at a distance that would allow a
marble to pass between them.
The rulers would act as a ramp for
the marbles to pass through.
3. Allow the marble to pass
between the rulers. Then, record
the time it travels using your
stopwatch and the distance using
the meterstick or ruler.
4. Put another book on top of the
book, repeat steps 2 and 3.
5. Put another book on top of the
two books, repeat steps 2 and 3.
6. Record your data in the Table.
Guide Questions:
Directions: Based on the activity,
answer the following questions.
Write your answers in your science
notebook.
1. What setup resulted in the
marble travelling the shortest
distance? Why do you think the
marble travelled the shortest
distance using this setup?
2. What setup resulted in the
marble travelling the longest
distance? Why do you think the
marble travelled the longest
distance using this setup?
3. How can measuring distance
help us compare things in motion?
4. What effect does height have
on the distance a marble travels
after being launched from a
ramp?
5. What is the speed of the marble
in the three setups?
