Rhythms and Styles of Learning

This document describes the different learning rhythms and styles. It explains that learning rhythms can be fast, moderate, or slow, and are influenced by factors such as age, maturity, and motivation. It also describes three main learning styles - visual, auditory, and kinesthetic - based on the dominant sensory channels. Additionally, it notes that students learn best when taught according to their predominant learning style.

RHYTHMS AND STYLES OF LEARNING

LEARNING RHYTHMS
The learning rhythms can be defined as the ability of an individual
to learn content quickly or slowly. The learning rhythms have
special link with factors such as: the individual's age, psychological maturity, the
neurological condition, motivation, prior preparation, cognitive mastery of
strategies, the use of multiple intelligences, the stimulation of brain hemispheres,
nutrition, etc.
Classification of learning rhythms
We all have different learning rhythms, which can include: the fast one, the
moderate and slow.
Slow learning pace:
When children take too long to complete activities, it seems that they do not
they retain the information and need to be explained several times how to perform a
procedure we can determine that your learning pace is slow. The pace of
learning can vary depending on the subject, motivation, or circumstances
each child and does not determine their cognitive level at all.

Its main characteristic is the need to repeat things many times for it to be

interpersonal relationships.
Moderate learning pace:
A child with a moderate learning pace falls within the average of his
group. Carry out the activities within the time that is set for them and tends to retain
large amounts of information or carry out procedures after analyzing them or
to try them.
Fast learning rhythm:
It is said that a student has a fast learning pace when they perform or learn
a procedure having been carried out only once. It is surprising for its speed in execution.
activities and their great capacity for short and long-term information retention.
A child with a fast learning rhythm is able to learn content much more
faster than average, while that one with a low learning pace will take longer.
time to understand and learn the same knowledge.

LEARNING STYLES
It is the set of pedagogical and cognitive characteristics that are usually expressed
together when a person must face a learning situation; that is,
different ways an individual can learn.

It is believed that a majority of people employ a particular method of interaction, acceptance.

and processing of stimuli and information.
There are no pure styles. All people use various learning styles, although one
of them tends to be the predominant one.

Learning styles are the cognitive, affective, and physiological traits that serve.
as relatively stable indicators of how the student perceives interactions and
responds to their learning environment; therefore, each person uses their own method or
strategy when it comes to learning and their own particular learning style and strategy,
speed, characteristics, and effectiveness in learning or in simpler terms.
The learning style is ultimately how our mind processes information.
how it is influenced by the perceptions of each individual in order to achieve learning
effective and meaningful. For example, when a new concept is learned, some
students focus on the details, others on the logical aspects, some prefer to do it
reading or putting them into practice through activities. For this reason, it is necessary to plan
activities tailored to the learning styles of the participants so that they are
more receptive when they perceive that the objectives of the training program respond to
your needs and expectations.
Classification of learning rhythms
There are many ways to classify learning styles, here we will focus on
in the VAK system, which groups them according to the predominant sensory channel. In this
classification, it is managed that learning styles are systems of representation that
we use people to understand the information and group them into three main categories
categories:
Visual learning style
People who learn visually think in images (for example,
when we 'see' in our mind the textbook page with the information at the same time, by
that's the people who use the information representation system we need)
Bringing to mind, much visual has more ease to absorb large amounts of
information quickly. Visualizing helps us to establish relationships
between different ideas and concepts. When a student has trouble relating
concepts often arise because it is processing the information in an auditory way or
kinesthetic. The capacity for abstraction is directly related to the capacity
to visualize. Also the ability to plan. Visual children learn best when
read or come the information in some way.
Auditory learning style
When we remember using the auditory representation system, we do so by
sequential and orderly manner. In an exam, for example, the student who sees

your mental recording step by step. Children who memorize auditorily cannot
forget not a word, because they do not know how to follow. The auditory system does not allow relating
concepts or develop abstract concepts with the same ease as the visual system and,

it's not that fast. It's, however, fundamental in language learning, and
naturally, from music. The little ones who are auditory learn better when they receive
the explanations orally and when they can talk and explain that information to another
person.
Kinesthetic learning style
When we process information by associating it with our sensations and
movements, to our body, we are using the representation system
kinesthetic. We naturally use this system when we learn a sport, but
also for many other activities. Learning using the kinesthetic system is slow,
much slower than with either of the other two systems, the visual and the auditory. It
needs more time to learn to type without having to think about what
one is making to memorize the list of letters and symbols that appear
on the keyboard. Kinesthetic learning is also deep. We can learn a
list of words and forget them the next day, but when one learns to ride a bicycle,
it is never forgotten: muscle memory. When they study many times they walk or they
they balance to satisfy that need for movement. In the classroom, they will look for
any excuse to get up and move.
Blended learning styles
Although the VAK system does not take combined learning styles into account,
When working with children, one can realize that they represent information from
different ways in some activities. This is why we can know small ones whose
learning style is visual/kinesthetic or auditory/visual.
It is important to establish that learning styles are not stable, that is, they can
suffer modifications over time. Indeed, as they progress in their process
students are discovering what their best way of learning is,
depending on conditions such as circumstances, contexts, or times of
learning.
Students learn more effectively when they are taught using their learning styles.
predominant learning. Consequently, we could say that:
The facilitator will be able to better guide each student's learning if they know how they learn.
If the facilitator's goal is to help students learn how to learn, then they are
It should help to understand and optimize their own learning styles.
