IGCSE English Writing (Descriptive)

PARAGRAPH 1: SCENE SETTING


□ Establish location (wide view first)
□ Include all five senses:
□ Sight
□ Sound
□ Smell
□ Taste
□ Touch
□ Mention time of day/weather
□ Include one specific detail to develop later
□ Use at least one simile

PARAGRAPH 2: FOCUS ON DETAIL


□ Choose one specific thing to describe
□ Include at least three descriptive details about it
□ Use an extended metaphor
□ Add personification
□ Use precise vocabulary

PARAGRAPH 3: NEW PERSPECTIVE


□ Introduce a person or different viewpoint
□ Show their feelings without dialogue
□ Use at least two similes
□ Include specific observations
□ Show emotional connection

PARAGRAPH 4: MOVEMENT/CHANGE +
□ Focus on action or transformation
□ Use varied sentence lengths
