Art Integrated Learning
The National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage 2022 recommends in the para 1.4.3
that: “Children express themselves, imagine, and create without any inhibition through the arts.
The open-endedness and playful qualities of the arts encourage self-expression, intuition,
reasoning, imagination, and communication. Children need to be supported with ideas and
opportunities to draw, paint, print, create collages, construct structures with blocks. Children also
love moving, dancing, exploring, and improvising with their bodies and playing musical
instruments.
As a pedagogical initiative, CBSE has introduced Art- Integrated Learning in all its affiliated schools
vide Circular No. Acad-12/2019 dated 8th March 2019. The Board has also issuedGuidelines on
Art-Integrated Learning vide Circular No. Acad-22/2019 dated 18.04.2019 with an aim to facilitate
teachers and principals for implementing Art Integrated Learning as a pedagogical tool for
experiential and joyful learning in classroom situation as well as building a joyful learning
environment in the school. The Art-Integration guidelines of the Board enlists various suggestive
activities, projects, assignments and lesson plans and are available at
http://cbseacademic.nic.in/web_material/Manuals/Art_Integration.pdf
Guidelines for the Art-Integrated Project Work:
● Projects taken up by students should be age-appropriate and enable them to be developed as
independent thinkers and learners.
● At least one Art-Integrated Project in each subject shall be taken up by all students of classes IX
and X. For classes IX and X, the art integrated project work will be assessed as part of the subject
enrichment activity in all the subjects for internal assessment.
● Students will take up integration with any form of Indian Art - visual or performing, as it will be
helpful to students to easily understand the project that is culturally connected to them.
● It is mandatory to integrate any art form of the paired State/UT, as defined under Ek Bharat
Shreshtha Bharat Programme.
● Pairing of States and Union territories for CBSE Art Integrated Learning and Project Work
Academic Session 2024-25 : Sikkim
● The focus should be given on research of new topics that are not yet taken up in the classroom.
The chapter in focus is: Natural Resources. NCERT Chapter14-

BIOLOGY
Chapter-Natural Resources.(NCERT Chapter14- https://ncert.nic.in/ncerts/l/iesc114.pdf)
Some suggested topics for AIL projects:
● Natural Resources are the earth’s raw materials and constituent parts that are vital to the
survival of the Human Race and also for the well being of other living organisms. These resources
include air, water, soil, forests and wildlife.
-Which activities are responsible for the depletion of our Natural resources?
-How can we conserve our Natural Resources?
-What steps can we take at the individual level, as a society and as a nation to ensure sustainable use of
our natural resources.
Support your project with art forms- collage, painting, sketches, venn diagrams, bar graphs,
photography etc. Role plays, jingles may be enacted to portray your project.
An analytical table may also be drawn to express your research.
● “Fresh air never gets old”-Air is an essential inexhaustible resource that is essential for our
survival
-Compare the Air Quality Index of Delhi Sikkim..
-What is the cause of the stark difference between the AQI’s of the two places?
-Explain the various ways in which the deteriorating air quality is affecting human health.
-Suggest ways in which you can contribute at your level to improve the Air Quality of your city?
Support your project with art forms- collage, painting, sketches, venn diagrams, bar graphs,
photography etc. Role plays, jingles may be enacted to portray your project.
Draw an analytical table to express your research on the comparison of the AQI.
● “Water is the elixir of life”, still we continue to pollute this precious natural
resource.Scientists assess the water quality by a number of parameters like temperature,
acidity (pH), dissolved solids (specific conductance), particulate matter (turbidity), dissolved
oxygen, hardness and suspended sediment. Each reveals something different about the
health of a water body.
-Compare the amount of precipitation in Delhi and Sikkim.
-Which factors are responsible for the pollution of the water bodies?
-Which initiatives have been taken by the Government to conserve water?
-What is the need for conservation of water resources?
Support your project with art forms- collage, painting, sketches, venn diagrams, bar
graphs, photography etc. Role plays, jingles may be enacted to portray your project.
Draw an analytical table to express your research on the comparison of the amount of precipitation .
● Ground-level ozone (O3) has started to emerge as Delhi’s lead pollutant during the day regularly
over the last few days, particularly after good spells of rain, according to data from the Central
Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The presence of ozone has prevented Delhi’s air from touching the
“good” category during this period.
- What is the significance of the Ozone Layer?
-Compare the concentration of Ozone over Delhi and Sikkim .
-When is International Ozone Day celebrated and why?
Support your project with art forms- collage, painting, sketches, venn diagrams, bar
graphs, photography etc. Role plays, jingles may be enacted to portray your project.
Draw an analytical table to express your research on the comparison of the amount of Ozone in the
two regions and its effect on the health of the people.
PHYSICS
One out of the following AIL projects can be selected in physics:
1. Motion and Laws of Motion:
● Various types of vehicles on the way to Sikkim can be identified and a graph to showcase the
relation between the speed of the vehicles and time taken by it to go from one place to another can
be drawn.
● A picture collage of different types of vehicles found in the two regions can be made and
relation between their relative speeds can be established.
● A cartoon strip to showcase the different types of inertia and their applications can be drawn.
● A dance can be performed to differentiate between rectilinear motion and circular motion
laying emphasis on the fact how speed of rotation can change by changing the body shape.
● An enactment to explain how laws of motion can be interpreted in real life and the role played
by them in the physical world can be done.
● A talk show could be organized between Newton and Einstein discussing application of
Newton's laws in the microscopic and macroscopic world.
