Q1- Introduce yourself:

 My name …………. I’m from……..holding master COC class….. since….. working as vessel master
from……. Joining KFS from on….. and working in different project and vessel
 If you have SSSA before you must till the interviewer on the rank and the date when you got the
approval.
 Oil and gas experience period and type of vessel.

Q2- how many island in ZAKUM field:

Four (4) artificial Islands are located within ZAKUM field

 Al Ghallan Island
 Umm Al Anbar Island
 Asseifiya Island
 Ettouk Island

Q3- how to enter ZAKUM FIELD:

Ask permission from MCC on CH 25 and call the island authority which I’m calling and got the
permission. And using the dedicated gate.

Q4- how many Island at Sarb field:

Two (2) artificial Islands are located within SARB field.

 Al Qatia Island
 Bu Sikeen Island

Q5- how many meter the depth reduced over pipeline:

reduced by 1.5m (4.9 ft) over pipelines in Field Areas

Q6- how many meter depth reduced over pipeline crossing point:

reduce water depths by 2.74 m (9 ft).

Q-7 what is the mark of the cross over pipeline:

By dangerous marking buoy color black and red and have to keep distance 300m
Q-8 how you enter shallow water area:

Must fill shallow water check list and submit to MCC and got the permission and reduce vessel speed to
avoid squat effect and make sure the vessel draft does not exceed 3.7 m

Q9- what is no navigation area:

It is strictly prohibited for vessels to cross the above restricted area (pipelines corridor).

Further IDB markers are also used as perimeter marker of the No navigation area.

Q10- what is the squat effect:

Squat is the reduction of a vessels Keel-Clearance, caused by the relative movement of the ship's hull
through the surrounding body of water. And the hull sinks deeper into the water and at the same time
will trim slightly.

Q-11- What is the under-keel clearance:

To maintain all the time half of the draft UKC if the vessel draft 3 m that mean the minimum depth can
navigate is 4.5m

Q12-what is the safe distance to pass from:

 Flare: 300 m
 Construction barge 2000 m
 Dangerous buoy 300m
 Offshore installation 500m

Q 13- Why they install safe marking buoy:

Safe Water marks serve to indicate that there is navigable water all round the mark and do not mark a
danger. And color white and red.

Q 14- in case of incident or accident or any emergency what you have to do:

Follow ADNOC communication flow chart (as per the sample).

Q 15- what is the maximum speed at night:

Maximum speed is 5 KTS.

Q 16- Berthing limitation:

ZSC and USSC: Vessels with a displacement up to 1600 tones may berth directly alongside

ACPT Complex: vessels up to 2650 tones displacement.

Q-17 what is the vessel displacement:

Loaded displacement is the weight of the ship including cargo, fuel, water, stores.

Q 18- what is the DWT of the vessel:

Deadweight is the actual amount of weight in tones that a vessel can carry when loaded to the
maximum permissible draught includes fuel, fresh water, gear supplies, catch and crew.

Q 19- what is the last ADNOC NTM and what talking about:

Will be check.

Q 20- how you get the navigation warning at ADNOC field:

MCC transmitting navigation warning daily by VHF and we got it by our company daily twice a day by
email.

Q 21- what is the maximum draft allowed at the ZAKUM island:

Maximum draft is 4.8 m.

Q 22- how many complex in Zakum field:

1. ZWSC: Zakum West Super Complex

2. ZCSC: Zakum Central Super Complex
3. ACPT: Accommodation Plat form

Q 23- How many satellite at Zakum Field:

1. ZNS: Zakum North Satellite

2. ZWS: Zakum West Satellite
3. ZSS: Zakum South Satellite
Q 24- What is your vessel scope of work and can your vessel work and steam at night?

LCT supply vessel and vessel can sail in and out from islands during night.

Q- 25- How many gates for ZAKUM field.

1. North Gate
2. West gate
3. East gate
4. Southeast gate

Q 26- What is the 10 golden rules for ADNOC and may he will ask to explain one of them

1. Work Authorization
2. Confined Space
3. Energy isolation
4. Toxic gas
5. Safe mechanical lifting
6. By passing safety controls
7. Driving
8. Line of fire
9. Hot work
10. Working at height

Q 27- Basic information about ship stability:

Ship stability refers to the ability of a ship to maintain an upright position and resist capsizing or rolling
excessively in response to external forces such as waves, wind, and cargo loading. Maintaining ship
stability is essential for safe navigation and the prevention of accidents at sea.

The stability of a ship is influenced by various factors such as the ship's geometry, weight distribution,
and the metacentric height (GM), which is the distance between the center of gravity (CG) of the ship
and its metacenter, a point that defines the ship's natural stability. The higher the GM, the greater the
ship's initial stability, and the more difficult it is for the ship to capsize.

If GM is large, the ship has large righting arms and will have stiff, fast rolls.

If GM is small, the ship has small righting arms and will have tender, slow rolls.

Q 28- what are the 4 pillars of IMO:

The four pillars of IMO are the:

1- International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)
2- International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers
(STCW)
3- International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL)
4- Maritime Labour Convention (MLC)

Q 29- why ism code is important:

The purpose of the ISM Code is to provide an international standard for the safe management and
operation of ships and for pollution prevention.

Q 30- GT& NT:

Gross Tonnage (GT): is the volume of all enclosed spaces on a vessel. This includes the Engine Room and
other non-cargo spaces.

Net Tonnage (NT), on the other hand, is the volume of only the cargo-carrying spaces on the vessel. This
is the tonnage that determines the earning capability of the vessel.

Q 31- Difference between list and heel:

A list reduces the stability of the vessel. When a list is corrected by increasing the displacement mass,
the additional weight should be placed as low as possible in the vessel. A vessel is said to be heeled
when it is inclined by an external force, e.g. from waves or the wind.

Q 32- Angle of LOLL:

The angle of LOLL that mean the GM zero or negative, which is happened by internal causes (Cargo
shifted) and the ship will keep rolling on that angle until any external force (Wave, Wind, Swell) which
may lead to vessel capsize and the vessel can’t come back to the upright position.

Q- 33 vessel Loaded displacement:

Loaded displacement is the weight of the ship including cargo, passengers, fuel, water, stores, dunnage
and such other items necessary for use on a voyage.

Q 34- Light displacement:

Light displacement (LDT) is defined as the weight of the ship excluding cargo, fuel, water, ballast, stores,
passengers, crew.

Q 35- vessel deadweight:

Is the total weight that a ship can carry. This not only includes the weight of cargo but should also take
into account the sum of the weights of fuel, freshwater, provision, ballast water, crew, and passengers.

Q 36- In case of zero visibility what the action you must take:

1- Inform the Master

2- Keep the Foghorn Ready
3- Appoint Adequate Manpower
4- Reduce Speed
5- Stop All Other Works
