1. Select any ONE element and research about it.
o Oxygen
o Copper
o Iron
o Helium
o Silicon
2. Your research must include:
o Name, symbol, and atomic number
o Metal or non-metal
o Where it is found in nature
o Physical properties (e.g., solid/liquid/gas- at room temperature, color)
o Real-life uses
o Why it is important to us
o 2–3 interesting facts
3. Create a poster based on your research:

SIIS/2025-26/G6(CAIE)/Science/ Research based skill test
Topics:
1. Oxygen – The Breath of Life
Focus: Importance of oxygen for respiration in humans, animals, and plants.
Research Ideas:
• Where is oxygen found (air, water)?
• How do we use oxygen in daily life?
• Why is oxygen important in hospitals?
Poster Task: Draw the oxygen molecule (O₂), show its uses in the body, hospitals,
and industry.
2. Copper – The Metal That Connects Us
Focus: Electrical and plumbing uses of copper.
Research Ideas:
• Why is copper used in wires and pipes?
• Is it a good conductor?
• Where do we see copper around us?
Poster Task: Create a diagram showing copper in wires, appliances, and pipes.
Add fun facts!
3. Iron – Strong and Useful
Focus: Uses of iron in buildings, tools, and transport.
Research Ideas:
• How is iron used in construction?
• Why do we need strong materials?
• What happens when iron rusts?
Poster Task: Make a poster showing iron in bridges, machines, and tools. Include
“rust” warning symbols!
4. Helium – The Lighter Element
Focus: Use of helium in balloons and science equipment.
Research Ideas:
• Why do helium balloons float?
• Is helium safe to use?
• What makes helium different from oxygen?
Poster Task: Show helium balloons, space rockets, and facts like “Helium is the
2nd lightest element.
5. Silicon – The Smart Element
Focus: Use of silicon in computers and electronics.
Research Ideas:
• Why is silicon used in chips and solar panels?
• How does it help in technology?
• Is silicon found in nature?
Poster Task: Draw a microchip with silicon inside. Show how it helps power
phones or computers.
