Assessment: (worksheets) PATHFIT 2 Module 1

Name: Pamela Grace B. Tañalas Course/Yr./Sec: BSED 1A Date submitted: Feb. 9,2024

Answer the following questions:

1. Describe in not less than 3 sentences the different Postural deviation. (5 points each
correct answer)

Lordosis is a spinal condition characterized by an excessive inward curvature of the

lumbar spine, leading to a swayback appearance. This exaggerated curvature can cause
lower back pain, difficulty standing upright, and discomfort during movement. Lordosis
can be caused by various factors such as poor posture, obesity, muscle imbalances, or
certain medical conditions.

Kyphosis is a spinal disorder marked by an exaggerated outward curvature of the

thoracic spine, causing a rounded or hunched back appearance. This condition can
result from factors such as poor posture, degenerative disc disease, osteoporosis, or
congenital abnormalities. Severe kyphosis may lead to discomfort, spinal deformity, and
reduced mobility, impacting an individual's quality of life and overall spinal health.

Flat back syndrome is a condition characterized by the loss of the natural curvature of
the lumbar spine, resulting in a flattened appearance of the lower back. This condition
can lead to symptoms such as lower back pain, difficulty standing for extended periods,
and postural issues. Flat back syndrome may develop due to factors such as spinal
surgery, degenerative disc disease, or muscle weakness, often requiring targeted
physical therapy or surgical intervention for management.

Front head posture, also known as forward head posture, is a condition where the head
protrudes forward from the shoulders, creating an increased curvature in the cervical
spine. This misalignment can result from habits like prolonged computer or smartphone
use, poor ergonomics, or muscle weakness. Front head posture may lead to neck pain,
headaches, and shoulder tension, emphasizing the importance of corrective exercises,
ergonomic adjustments, and postural awareness for prevention and management.
Scoliosis is a medical condition characterized by an abnormal sideways curvature of the
spine. This curvature can range in severity and may cause the spine to resemble an "S"
or "C" shape when viewed from the back. Scoliosis can develop during childhood or
adolescence, and in some cases, it may progress and lead to complications such as
back pain, respiratory issues, or spinal deformity if left untreated. Treatment options
vary depending on the severity and progression of the condition, ranging from
observation and physical therapy to bracing or surgical intervention.

2. Identify and describe in not less than 3 sentences the different Posture faults. (5
points each correct answer)

Rounded shoulders, also known as kyphosis or rounded upper back, is a posture fault
characterized by the shoulders rolling forward and inward, causing the upper back to
hunch and the chest to collapse inward. This posture issue is commonly seen in
individuals who spend long hours sitting at a desk, hunching over electronic devices, or
engaging in activities that promote poor upper body alignment. Rounded shoulders can
lead to muscle imbalances, shoulder pain, and restricted range of motion if not
addressed through corrective exercises, postural awareness, and ergonomic
adjustments.

Hyperlordosis, also known as swayback, is a postural fault characterized by an

exaggerated inward curvature of the lumbar spine, causing the lower back to arch
excessively. This condition can be caused by factors such as weak abdominal muscles,
tight hip flexors, obesity, or pregnancy. Hyperlordosis may lead to lower back pain,
discomfort while standing or walking, and an altered gait pattern. Treatment often
involves addressing underlying muscle imbalances through targeted exercises,
improving posture awareness, and sometimes using orthotic devices to support the
spine.

3. In not less than 100 words, write an essay on how Correct Body Mechanics
contribute to the efficiency of the body functions.

Correct body mechanics play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency of bodily functions
and reducing the risk of injury. By maintaining proper posture and alignment during
everyday activities such as lifting, bending, and sitting, individuals can distribute weight
evenly across muscles and joints, minimizing strain and fatigue. This allows muscles to
work more effectively, optimizing strength and endurance while reducing the likelihood
of overuse injuries or musculoskeletal disorders. Additionally, proper body mechanics
facilitate optimal breathing and circulation, enhancing oxygen delivery to tissues and
organs, and supporting overall physiological function. Ultimately, incorporating correct
body mechanics into daily routines promotes overall well-being, functional movement,
and long-term physical health.

Your essay is 50 points and shall be evaluated using these criteria:
