Self-Reflect
After discussing this lesson, reflect on the following questions.
1. Identify which among the foundations of curriculum, has influenced what you have learned in
school as a college student?
Answer: Psychological Foundation of Curriculum influenced me. As a student, I came to
understood why students have different styles of learning. How emotional state affects the
performance of students and how it is connected to the ability of the student to process
information. If the psychological environment of the students is stressful, then it can affect the
student and their learning. It is important that the students has a peaceful and supportive
environment for them to perform well at school.
The psychological foundation curriculum is essential as it provides educators with a deep
understanding of how students think, learn, and develop emotionally. By integrating
psychological principles, teachers can create more effective instructional strategies that cater to
diverse learning styles and needs. This curriculum also emphasizes the importance of fostering a
positive classroom environment, which is crucial for student motivation and engagement.
Additionally, it equips educators with tools to identify and address mental health issues,
promoting overall well-being among students. Ultimately, a strong psychological foundation
enhances the educational experience, leading to better academic outcomes and personal growth
for learners.
2. How will the thinking of Abraham Maslow influence your teaching practice in the future?
Answer: It will influence me in a way that I will make sure to give support to my students. I want
them to be motivated and feel that they are appreciated. A positive environment is the key to an
emotionally and mentally healthy student. I want my future students to feel secure and happy
when I teach them. I want them to succeed in life and reach their goal. They would definitely
remember me as one of their teacher that helped them achieve success in life.
Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs will significantly shape my teaching practice by
emphasizing the importance of addressing students' basic needs before they can thrive
academically. By creating a supportive and safe learning environment, I can help students feel
secure, which fosters their motivation and engagement. Understanding that each student has
unique needs will guide me in tailoring my approach to meet them effectively. I will prioritize
building strong relationships with my students to ensure they feel valued and understood.
Ultimately, this holistic approach will empower students to reach their full potential in the
classroom.
3. Do you agree with Alvin Toffler?
Answer: Yes, I agree. Parents and students won’t have a problem anymore in terms of technology in the
future. Alvin Toffler's views on education emphasize the need for adaptability and lifelong learning in a
rapidly changing world. He argues that traditional education systems may not adequately prepare students
for the future, advocating for a more personalized and relevant approach to learning.
Toffler’s perspective on education is rooted in his broader analysis of societal change, particularly in his
seminal works like "Future Shock" and "The Third Wave." He argues that we are transitioning from an
industrial society to an information-based society, which necessitates a fundamental shift in how we
educate future generations. This shift is not merely about updating curricula but rethinking the very
purpose and structure of education. In conclusion, Toffler's views on education highlight the necessity for
a transformative approach that prepares students for an unpredictable future. His emphasis on adaptability,
technology, critical thinking, and lifelong learning presents a compelling argument for re-evaluating
current educational practices to better serve future generations.
