Here’s a sample.
This is a report on “Tuck Everlasting.” This book is from about 50 years ago. It is still
used for 11-12 year old students in some American schools.

1- Book Summary or Movie summary
Write 3-5 sentences about what the book or movie is about. Who are the main
characters? What happens in the story?
Winnie Foster, a ten year old girl from a wealthy family feels trapped in her strict life.
One day she runs away into the woods near her home and discovers a handsome
young guy named Jesse Tuck drinking from a hidden fresh water spring. Winnie wants
to drink the water too, but before she can, Jesse’s family kidnaps her because they
have to tell her why she should not drink that water. The family has a secret: the water
from the spring gives people eternal life. If she drinks it she will live forever, but the Tuck
family warns her that living forever is not a good thing.
2- Main Characters
List at least three important characters and write one sentence about each of them.
Character One: . Winnie is a young girl who loves nature more than
school.
Character Two: . He’s a young guy of about seventeen years old, but
he is actually 104 years old. The story takes place in 1893, but he drank the magic
water in 1793 before there were very few people in the forest area.
Character Three: . He’s the book’s antagonist or bad guy.
He heard about the Tuck family that never got old from some people in a nearby village.
The village people mention the Tuck’s disappeared many years before, but they were
strange because they never got old. They point to where they think the Tuck’s
disappeared to, and the story’s villain, the Man in the Yellow Suit begins searching all
around the forest for the Tuck family to learn their secret.
3- My Favorite Part
What was your favorite part of the book? Why did you like it?
I have two favorite parts, but I will only describe one here because I do not want to do
what’s called “spoiling the ending” for anyone interested in reading the book. My favorite
part happens when Winnie is safe and happy with the Tuck family. The family has
learned to live very simply hidden on a pond deep in the forest no one knows about.
Winnie has learned many things from this family because they are all over 100 years
old, and still very strong and healthy. Late one afternoon, Winnie is watching sunlight on
the pond water at the peak of summer, and she receives a lot of wisdom, mostly from
Angus Tuck, the father. She sees circular ripples on the water’s surface and sees that
life moves in cycles, constantly changing like water on the pond. She sees rhythms in
life where everything changes. This is very much like a Buddhist philosophy that a
young girl somewhere in America experiences back in 1893!
4- How did the book make you feel? Happy, sad, curious, scared, excited, or bored?
I felt happy as I read this book. I was teaching in Japan for many years, and I helped
some American kids read this book back in Chicago. I knew nothing about it, and when I
read some of the pages, I thought, “Oh, these are Buddhist ideas I learned in Japan!” I
felt these lessons could be learned by American kids too. The idea that everything
changes. This is important because one of the girl’s in the class loved her grandmother,
but the old woman died, and the young eleven year old girl was very sad.
5- Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. It is written in a nice, easy reading
style with a little adventure with very nice descriptions. It is relaxing to read this book,
and then some very deep life lessons arise in the book. This makes the book surprising,
and the reader wants to keep on reading!
Harry* “Harry Potter”
Squarepants: Solo Leveling Main Character:Sung Jin Woo “I just really like it.” Would
you recommend the book to a friend? They are expensive to collect. The pictures are
beautiful, but this makes the book expensive!
Obretune: Harry Potter. I like Harry best. He wears glasses, and this makes him appear
to be quite intelligent. The antagonist or bad guy in the book is Voldomort! He’s a very
bad grand wizard who looks strange. He also mimics people.
Lisa: “Frog and Toad.” The main characters are Frog and Toad. What is Frog like? He is
an optimist (always happy and loves life!) Toad, of course is a bit ugly, and he doesn’t
have much energy. It’s hard to wake up in the spring, but he can be funny.
Elsa: ???
Anna: A book called “Who?” The main character is Usain Bolt a real Olympic running
champion in the 100 meters.
Long: I don’t read books! If you cant’s find an English book, then use a famous
Vietnamese book. You can describe it in English.
I have fallen in love with the book Đất rung phương nam from Đoàn Giỏi. The character
which makes me respect is Võ Tồng. He is a very hard working and a determind man.
He don't mind facing different problems and very kind.
Marry: Giant? Good or bad? Protagonist or Antagonist
Could we change the book report to a movie report?
