V. NARRATIVE REPORT:

A. INTRODUCTION

It has been observed that one of the development plan

that our Sanggunian Kabataan officers is to implement
barangay sports clinic and sports fest. With this, it is observed
from past years that our youth players in the barangay
practicing games without the help of a professional coaches or
trainers. No one guides them for proper execution of game
rules and game techniques. It is true that fun, teamwork, and
growth are key goals of many recreational sports fest
competition. Many sports fest emphasize the joy of playing
over winning. Even so, young athletes want to get a solid
foundation in the basics of the sport. This is especially true for
any young people who may want to play in a competitive
competition or on a high school sports team. In many sports
fest, parent volunteers often form the core of the coaching
staff. Thus, sports organizer in barangays should aim to have
at least one lead coach for each team with strong experience
in the sport. Adults who played sports in high school or college
are ideal.
With this, the project may help in upskilling the youth of
their basic knowledge in sports and enshrining the love of
sports among the youth of Kamog to have a better chance
also to win in the municipal sports fest. However, the overall
goal of the project is to promote youth participation in sport
and physical activities geared at providing many health and
social benefits inherent in sporting activity and form a greater
sense of empowerment that will expand beyond sporting
arena into everyday life.

B. ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

The proponent crafted project proposal based on his

strength and skills that he may provide to the community as
well as considering what are needs of such community. It
chooses Kamog as beneficiary because of his wants to serve
back the community where he belongs during his teenage
days. This project proposal together with the action plan were
communicated, reviewed and approved by all the concerned
entity.
The proponent met with Barangay Officials to discuss
the needed materials for the preparation of the project, they
have agreed that the Barangay provides the necessary
materials such as balls, nets and the venue for the training. It
was agreed also that for financial support needed for the
project is born by the accepting barangay.
During the first week of August, the proponent and
some of the SK officials with their respected SK Chairman met
for the crafting of activity plan which serves as a guide for the
upcoming main implementation of the project (see attached
activity).
Upon the approval of the semi-detailed activity plan
which was based on the proposed action plan, the proponent
and corresponding partners in the barangay implemented
such activity plan. It started to train the core players that are
expected to help during the full blast implementation. The
training was conducted until October.
With the upcoming Municipal Sports Fest, the SK
Chairman and the proponent set the first week of November
as an intense practice week for volleyball and basketball
team.
The core players together with the proponent joined the
2017 Sablan Sports Fest where they snatched the
championship in basketball and third in volleyball for men and
fourth in volleyball women.
Assessment and Evaluation through brainstorming was
done after the Municipal Sports Fest.
The following year, the proponent and SK officials follow
the same set up each month as it was stated in the approved
activity plan.
Both evaluation and assessment was done during the
2018 and 2019 Sablan Sports Fest.

C. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

Problems are inevitable part of every project conducted,

however, it enables us to see what to improve in order for a
program to become successful. During the implementation of
the project, we encountered less financial support; some
activities programmed was not implemented due to lack of
time and some participants are hesitant to employ the
suggested training program. These problems have been
evident during the first year implementation of the program,
however, it becomes less worrisome during its second year.
The project also requires more coaches and trainers so that it
will maximized the potentials of the athletes. Moreover,
sustainability of the project is seen to be one as a problem.

D. RECOMMENDATION

Based on the problems encountered, it is recommended

that barangay officials shall set aside funds for sports clinic.
They have to assess earlier the needed materials for
allocation. Youth are encouraged also to involve themselves in
sports as well as in funding because it is for their own good.
It is also recommended that there should be self-
discipline of all participants specifically on time management.
They have to be early or be there on the set time of training
and practice. Young people also is encouraged to join athletic
training of schools/universities so that there will be trainers
and coaches in the barangay. They maybe tap as one.
For sustainability, it is recommended that Barangay
officials shall institutionalized the conduct of such activity.
They have to passed resolutions or ordinance that cementing
this kind of activity.
