1. Cows Have Best Friends 🐄💛

Studies have shown that cows form strong social bonds with specific individuals. When
separated from their best friends, their heart rates increase, and they show signs of stress.
Keeping them together improves their well-being and milk production.

2. Wombat Poop is Cube-Shaped 🦡🧊

Wombats are the only known animals to produce cube-shaped feces. Their intestines stretch
and contract at different rates to create the distinct shape, helping the poop stay in place and
mark territory without rolling away.

3. Tardigrades Can Survive Extreme Conditions 🐻‍❄️🚀

Also called "water bears," tardigrades can survive in extreme environments, including the
vacuum of space, boiling water, and even radiation. They achieve this by entering a state
called cryptobiosis, where they lose almost all water in their bodies and stop metabolism
until conditions improve.

4. Sharks Are Older Than Trees 🦈🌳

Sharks have been around for over 400 million years, while the first trees appeared around
350 million years ago. Some of the earliest sharks lived in oceans before the existence of
land-based plants with woody trunks.

5. Lightning is Hotter Than the Sun ⚡☀️

The temperature of a lightning bolt can reach 30,000 Kelvin (53,540°F), which is about five
times hotter than the surface of the sun (which is around 6,000 Kelvin). This extreme heat
causes the surrounding air to expand rapidly, creating the sound we hear as thunder.

6. You Can Smell Rain Before it Arrives

The scent of approaching rain is called petrichor. It happens when rain disturbs soil bacteria,
releasing a compound called geosmin into the air. Human noses are incredibly sensitive to
geosmin, even at very low concentrations.

7. Cleopatra Lived Closer to the iPhone Than the Pyramids 📱🏺

The Great Pyramid of Giza was completed around 2560 BCE, while Cleopatra ruled Egypt
around 30 BCE. That means Cleopatra lived closer in time to the invention of the iPhone in
2007 than to the construction of the pyramid.

8. Vikings Used Fermented Urine to Start Fires 🔥💀

Vikings would collect stale urine and let it ferment, creating ammonia-rich liquid. They
would soak a fungus called touchwood in the urine, which helped it smolder for long periods
—perfect for carrying fire across long journeys.

9. The Eiffel Tower Grows Taller in Summer 🗼☀️

The iron structure of the Eiffel Tower expands when heated by the sun, making it grow by up
to 15 cm (6 inches) during hot summer months. In winter, it contracts back to its original
height.
