Dinosaur discoveries
Every year, scientists find fossils of many new dinosaurs. About 30 new dinosaurs every year!
They learn more about the way dinosaurs moved and what dinosaurs ate.
The biggest dinosaurs had small heads, long tails and long necks. They walked on four thick
legs. These giant dinosaurs ate plants–lots of plants! Where did these giant dinosaurs live?
Fossils of these huge dinosaurs are found all around the world. Giant dinosaurs were as long
as 3 city buses and were as heavy as 17 elephants.
Years ago, scientists thought that all dinosaurs had scales, like a lizard or a snake. Then they
found fossils of dinosaurs with feathers. Now scientists know that many dinosaurs had
feathers. Most small dinosaurs had feathers. Some big dinosaurs had both scales and
feathers. A few years ago, scientists made an exciting new discovery- they looked at dinosaur
feathers in fossils using a powerful microscope and saw the colors of a dinosaur’s feathers!
