Tatara vamiro
this lesson is based on a popular folktale of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Andaman Nicobar The southern island is Little Andaman which is located about a
hundred kilometers from Port Blair. After this, the first major island of Nicobar
archipelago is Car-Nicobar which is 96 km from Little Andaman. is far. According to
mythological legends, these two islands were earlier one. A folk tale behind their
separation is still prevalent today. When both the islands were one, there was a beautiful
village where a handsome and powerful young man lived whose name was Tatanra. He
was a noble and honest person and was always ready to help others. Nicobarese loved
him very much. He served the entire island along with the people of his village. Along
with being in traditional attire, he always kept a wooden sword tied around his waist. He
never used the sword, people believed that the sword had divine power. One evening,
after a hard day's work, Tatanra set out for a walk on the seashore. The sun was about
to set, cool breezes were coming from the sea. The birds were going back to their
homes. Tatanra was looking at the last rays of the sun on the sea when he heard a
sweet song echoing from somewhere nearby and he started losing his mind. A strong
rush of waves woke him up. He moved towards the direction from where the sounds of
the song were coming. His eyes fell on a girl who was singing a song. Suddenly a sea
wave arose and drenched the girl, in whose haste she forgot her song. Tatanra politely
asked the reason behind his giving up his melodious singing. The girl was shocked to
see him and started asking the reason for such an irrelevant question. Tatanra was
repeatedly asking her to sing. At last Tatanra realized his mistake and apologized and
asked her name. SHe told her name as Wamiro. Tatanra told him his name and
requested her to come again tomorrow.
When Vamiro reached her home in Lapati, she started feeling uneasy from within. She
found all the qualities in Tatara's personality that she thought about her life partner, but
their relationship was against tradition, so she thought it better to forget Tatanra.
Somehow both of them passed the night. Next day, Tatanra waited for Vamiro in the
evening on the sea rock of Lapati. Suddenly the sun was about to set and he saw a
figure among the coconut bushes, which was Vamiro. Now both of them would meet
every evening and stand staring at each other. Some young men of Lapati sensed the
silent love between them and it became known to everyone like the wind. But marriage
of both was not possible because both were from different villages. Everyone tried their
best to convince both of them but both remained adamant and continued meeting every
evening. After some time, a cattle festival was organized in the village Pasa of Tantra in
which all the villages used to participate. In the festival, apart from the display of
animals, there is also a test of strength of the youth, along with songs, music and food
are also organized. In the evening everyone started coming to Pasa and gradually
various programs started taking place but Tatanra's mind was not in all this but was
busy in finding Vamiro. Then he saw Wamiro behind a bunch of coconuts. She started
crying as soon as she saw Tatanra. Tatanra was distraught. Hearing the cry, Vamiro's
mother reached there and insulted Tantra by saying bad things. The village people also
said that Started raising voices in protest. This was unbearable for Tatanra. He was
feeling irritated at the tradition and angry at his helplessness. Suddenly his hand rested
on the hilt of his sword and in anger he took out his sword and stuck it into the ground
and started pulling with all his might. Cracks started appearing in the earth from where
the line was drawn. The island was divided into two parts, on one side there was
Tatanara and on the other side there was Wamiro. The second island started sinking. As
soon as Tatanra regained consciousness, he jumped towards the other island and tried
to catch hold of the tip but could not succeed and started sliding downwards. Screams
were coming out of both of their mouths for each other. Tatanra was lying bleeding and
unconscious. No one knows what happened to him later. Here Vamiro went mad and
stopped eating and drinking. People tried a lot to find Tatanra but he could not be found.
Today there is neither Tatanra nor Vamiro, but their love story is narrated in every home.
After this incident the Nicobarese started establishing marital relations with each other
in other villages. Little Andaman is the second among the two pieces taken from
Car-Nicobar by Tatanra's sword.

Harihar kaka
The author had for Harihar Kaka due to his behavior and his thoughts and there were
two reasons for that. The first reason was that Harihar Kaka was the author's neighbor
and the second reason was that his mother told the author that Harihar Kaka loved the
author very much since childhood. When the author grew up, his first friendship was
with Harihar Kaka. There was a huge temple of Thakur ji on the eastern side of the
writer's village, which the people of the village called Thakurbari i.e. Devasthan. People
used to pray to Thakur ji for a son, victory in the case, the girl getting married in a good
house, the boy getting a job etc. After the fulfillment of their wish, people happily offered
money, jewelry, and grains to Thakurji. Anyone who felt very happy would give a small
part of his farm in the name of Thakurji and this became a tradition in a way. The author
says that his village was no longer known by the name of the village but only because of
Thakurbari. This Thakurbari of his village was the biggest and famous Thakurbari of
that area. Harihar Kaka had stopped going to Thakurbari due to his circumstances. To
entertain himself, the writer sometimes used to go to Thakurbari. But the author says
that he did not like the saints and sages there at all. Because they were not interested in
working. In the name of offering food to God, he used to make Halwa-Puri at both times
of the day and used to lie down comfortably. All the work was done by the people who
came there in the name of serving them. If he himself did any work, it was the work of
[Link] telling about Harihar Kaka, the author says that Harihar Kaka and he have
three brothers. Everyone is married. Apart from Harihar Kaka, all the three brothers have
children. For some time, all the things of Harihar Kaka were taken care of, but after a
few days there was no one to ask Harihar Kaka. The author says that if Harihar Kaka
had ever fallen ill, a mountain of troubles would have fallen on Harihar Kaka. Because
despite living in such a big family, no one even asked Harihar Kaka for water. If Harihar
Kaka, lying in the verandah room, needed anything, he would have to get up himself. One
day his nephew (brother's son) came home from the city with a [Link] celebrate his
arrival, two-three types of vegetables, dishes, chutney, raita and many more were
prepared. Everyone ate the food and no one even came to ask Harihar Kaka. Harihar
Kaka angrily walked towards the verandah and was loudly asking whether his brother's
wives thought that they were feeding them for free. The grains grown in his fields also
come to this house.
Mahant ji thought of taking advantage of Harihar Kaka's anger. Mahantji brought Harihar
Kaka with him to Thakurbari and started explaining to Harihar Kaka that his brother's
family is connected to him only because of their land, if someday Harihar Kaka says that
he is writing his land in someone else's name, So those people will even stop talking to
him. Blood relations will end. Mahant tells Harihar Kaka to write all the fields in his share
in the name of God. By doing this they will go straight to heaven. As soon as the
morning broke, Harihar Kaka's three brothers reached Thakurbari. All three fell at the
feet of Harihar Kaka and started crying and started apologizing for their wives' mistake
and saying that they would punish their wives for treating them like this. Harihar Kaka
felt a feeling of compassion in his mind and he returned home again. When Harihar
Kaka returned home after the persuasion of his brothers, he became very happy to see
the change in the house and the behavior of the family members. All the big and small
people of the house started respecting Harihar Kaka.
Whenever the people of the village would sit somewhere, there would be a series of
conversations that had no end. There was talk of him everywhere. Some people say that
Harihar Kaka should register his land in the name of God. Nothing can be better than
this. This will bring everlasting fame to Harihar Kaka. On the contrary, some people
believe that a brother's family is also their own family. Not giving them your property
would be injustice to them. Harihar Kaka's brothers started requesting him to get their
share of land registered in their name. Harihar Kaka thought a lot on this subject and
finally came to the conclusion that it would not be right to make someone else the
owner of his property while he was alive. Be it his own brother or the Mahant of the
temple. Because he remembered some people of his village and area, who in his lifeHad
got his property registered in the name of his relatives or someone else. His life later
became like that of a dog, there was no one to ask him. Harihar Kaka was not at all
educated, but he made no mistake in understanding the sudden change in his life and
he decided that he would not cede his land to anyone as long as he was alive.
The author says that as time was passing, Mahant ji's problems were increasing. He felt
that Harihar Kaka had escaped from the net he had thrown to trap Harihar Kaka, Mahant
ji was not able to bear this. Around midnight, the sages and saints of Thakurbari and
some of their companions suddenly came to Harihar Kaka's courtyard with spears,
cannonballs and guns. Before Harihar Kaka's brother could think of something and call
someone to help him, it was too late. The attackers had carried Harihar Kaka on their
back and disappeared somewhere. They had taken Harihar Kaka to the place of God. On
one hand, the work of forcefully taking Harihar Kaka's thumb impression and convincing
him was going on inside the Thakurbari, while on the other hand, Harihar Kaka's three
brothers had reached the temple in the police jeep before the morning. Mahant and his
associates had kept Harihar Kaka in the room with his hands and legs tied and at the
same time a cloth was stuffed in his mouth so that he could not make any noise. But
Harihar Kaka had come rolling to the door and was pushing on the door with his feet so
that his brother and the police standing outside could save him.
By opening the door, Harihar Kaka was freed from his bondage. Harihar Kaka told the
police that after tying him in that room, they had escaped through a secret door and they
had forcefully taken Harihar Kaka's thumb impressions on some empty and some
written papers.
After all this had passed, Harihar Kaka again started living with his brothers' family.
Guards were started 24 hours a day. Even if Harihar Kaka had to go to the village for
some work, four-five people with weapons always accompanied him. The author says
that whatever had happened to Harihar Kaka had made Harihar Kaka smarter and wiser
than a simple and innocent [Link] he started to understand everything that the
sudden change in the behavior of his brothers towards him, the respect and protection
they were providing to him, was not the love of their own brothers but they all Some are
doing it because of their wealth, otherwise they would not have even asked Harihar
Kaka. Ever since Harihar Kaka returned home from Thakurbari, Harihar Kaka's brothers
and his other relatives were all thinking that Harihar Kaka should legally transfer his
property to his nephews. Because until Harihar Kaka does not do this, Mahant's sharp
eyes will remain on him. When Harihar Kaka's brothers got tired of explaining to Harihar
Kaka, they started scolding Harihar Kaka and putting pressure on him. One night Harihar
Kaka's brothers also started behaving in the same way as the Mahant and his
associates had done. They were threatening them and saying that they should happily
put their thumb impressions on the paper wherever required, otherwise they would kill
them and bury them inside the house and the people of the village would not be
informed about this. Will not be found either. Now Harihar Kaka's brothers started
fighting with him. When Harihar Kaka was unable to fight his brothers, he started
shouting loudly and calling the villagers for help. Then his brothers realized that they
should have silenced Harihar Kaka earlier. At that very moment, he threw Harihar Kaka
on the ground and stuffed a cloth in his mouth. But by then it was too late, Harihar
Kaka's voice had reached the village outside. Until Harihar Kaka's family and relatives
explained to the villagers that all this It is a mutual matter between the family, they all
should stay away from it, till then Mahant ji very efficiently and quickly came there with
the police jeep. The police started searching the entire house thoroughly. Then Harihar
Kaka was found inside the house in such a bad condition that it was not even in his
Devasthan. Harihar Kaka told that his brothers had treated him very badly, forcibly took
his thumb impressions on many papers and beat him a lot.
After this incident, Harihar Kaka started living completely away from his family. They got
four armed policemen for their protection. The surprising thing is that for this a lot of
efforts were made by his brothers and the Mahant. actually brothersMahant ji was
worried that if Harihar Kaka starts living alone, then the Mahant-priest of Thakurbari will
again seduce Harihar Kaka and get the land registered in the name of Thakurbari and
Mahant ji was also worried that after finding Harihar Kaka alone and unsafe, His
brothers will again catch him and kill him and get the land transferred to their name. The
author says that many news stories related to Harihar Kaka were spreading in the
village. As the days were passing, an atmosphere of fear was increasing. All the people
were only thinking that Harihar Kaka has drunk the nectar, otherwise he has to die for a
day and when he dies, there will be a storm in the entire village because there is a fight
over the land between the Mahant and Harihar Kaka's family. It will be done. The police
personnel were living very happily at the expense of Harihar Kaka. Those whose wealth
should be worshiped, those who eat should have luxury i.e. Harihar Kaka had money but
it had no importance for him now and the policemen were having fun with Harihar
Kaka's money without any reason. Both of them were enjoying what they had not eaten
till now.
