GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP
Global citizenship education is becoming increasingly important in
today's world, as the global challenges we face require a
coordinated and collaborative response. It emphasizes the
development of critical thinking, empathy, and social responsibility
among students, and encourages them to engage in activities that
promote cross-cultural understanding, community service, and
environmental sustainability.
Global Citizenship refers to the rights, responsibilities and duties
that come with being a member of global entity as a citizen of a
particular nation or place. A global citizen is someone who is
aware of and understands the wider world - and their place in it.
They take an active role in their community, and work with others
to make our planet more equal, fair and sustainable.
Global citizenship is a concept that emphasizes the
interconnectedness of all people and the need to take
responsibility for the well-being of the world as a whole, beyond
just one's own nation or community. It involves recognizing and
respecting the diversity of cultures, beliefs, and values around
the world, and working together to address global challenges
such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and human rights
violations.
GLOBAL CITIZEN
OR WORLD
CITIZEN
A global citizen is a person who sees themselves as part of a larger global
community and recognizes their responsibility to contribute to the well-
being of the world as a whole, beyond just their own nation or community.
Global citizens are aware of the impact of their actions on the world
around them and strive to make a positive difference in their local
communities and beyond.
Being a global citizen involves recognizing and respecting the diversity of
cultures, beliefs, and values around the world, and working together to
address global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and
human rights violations. It involves a commitment to promoting social
justice and environmental sustainability, and a willingness to take action
to create positive change.
Global citizenship is not limited to a particular age group or profession,
but can be practiced by anyone who is willing to engage with the world in
a meaningful way. It is a mindset that emphasizes the interconnectedness
of all people and the need for cooperation and collaboration to create a
more just and sustainable world for all.

GLOBAL CITIZEN
RIGHTS
The rights of global citizens are imbedded in the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, first
drafted in 1948 after World War II. The core
nature of the Universal declaration-grounded in
individual liberty, equality and equity- has
remained constant.
