Language Skills: Unit 8

Project
Activities to help new friends

In unit eight we have been talking about what it means to have, keep, and make new
friends. For your project you will create a brochure or pamphlet. Both brochures and
pamphlets can be created in multiple ways. Your project will be divided into six parts.
You will write about different activities that new people can do in the area you live, in
Istanbul. You can create this using a simple piece of paper or you can use a word
document or any other digital platform like Canva. Once you print your brochure or
pamphlet, you will still need to fold it as a pamphlet. You can use the internet to find
activities in your area. This pamphlet is meant to introduce people to activities to your
area.

What you will do:

1. On the first page of your (brochure or pamphlet) you will create your title page and
draw picture or use a picture from a site that shows different types of activities. You
should also label the district that you live in. For example, Fatih, Uskudar, Kadikoy.

2. On the second page there should be information about what type of activities are
available near your area. You need to put down at least 10 activities. In a short 3-4
sentences write about how these activities can help bring people closer together or help
them become friends.

3. On pages three to five you will write about some of these activities and talk about them
(include some pictures). Explain in more detail how these activities foster friendships
and how each activity is a great place for people to meet new members of their
community.

4. Please don’t forget to do your brainstorming sheet. This is a great place to think about
what activities you like to do and what other activities there might be in your area. Think
about different types of activities: sports, community service, arts, music, outdoors etc.

5. Make certain to make your brochure or pamphlet look nice, with pictures and other
things.
