Visited On: 24/08/2024
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
To learn about new advancements in foundry technologies and latest innovations
in the field. We visited the expo and gained new knowledge in castings and
foundry. The processes that we understood has been submitted as report.
Here by,
We express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to our Principal Dr. R. VIJAYAN
for granting us the permission to attend the expo.
A special thanks to Head of the Department Prof.D. NOORULLAH for helping
us to attend the exhibition
We would also like to thank our Dr.K.T. THILAGHAM (Class advisor) for
helping us attend the exhibition.
We would also like to thank all the exhibitionists who explained about the
processes and products and gave us clarity over the concepts. We express our
gratitude towards Prof.A. Balamurugan for guiding us through the exhibition.
We express our sincere thanks to all the teaching and non-teaching staff members
of Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Government College of
Engineering, Salem for their valuable suggestion, kind co-operation and
encouragement.
The Inter foundry expo gave us a lot of insights on the new advancements on
foundry and castings. FDF is widely known for their exhibitions on foundry
which bring together technologies Technologists, Researchers, Manufacturers of
Equipment and Material, Service Providers and Users on a Single Platform to
Augment Indian Manufacturing Capabilities and Capacities. The exhibition
included various manufactures of furnaces, coal, coke, spectrometer & lab
equipments and casting manufacturers. We got to learn about a lot of new
technologies. We learnt about 3d printed no wax casting who use different
methods such as SLS, SLA, FDM to produce castings which are either element
based or resin based. We learnt about Induction furnaces that use Electromagnetic
induction coils for heating. We got to know about spark spectrometers that is
especially used in knowing concentration and composition of a metal or alloy
sample. We learnt about shot blastings that use steel shots and sand blasting that
use sand or other abrasives for removing rusts. We got to learn about pyrometers
that were both non-contact like Infra-red pyrometers and contact pyrometers. We
got to learn about surface hardening where the metal part is continuously heating
using induction coils followed by quenching that hardens the surface. We got to
see vibro chargers, furnaces, castings, foam filters, coke, coal, fused minerals,
blasting sands, steel shots, coating salts, electrodes used for welding, crucibles,
spectrometers, stimulations on how foundry works. We also got to know about
software providers such as NovaCast that provides stimulations of castings.
