CHAPTER 1
1.0 Background of the Study
In school from a public and private school, the so-called “bullying occurs in many
aspects”. It could occur in the corridors, comfort rooms, inside classrooms, on school buses, and
even outside the school premises. Sometimes bullying occurs when the perpetrator sees that you
are weak or easy to bully with, they tend to do it again and again. A group of people who can
bully may take advantage maybe because they have disability, their confidence was not strong
enough to defend themselves. Bullying in the 21st century is still evident not only in school but
also it can happen in the office etc. Some impact of bullying may affect the psychological,
emotional, and physical aspects of a person and it can also affect the learning of the students,
some are tired of going to school since they don’t like to see the perpetrator inside or outside
their classroom.
Shahria et al. (2015) reported that bullying is deemed as a serious problem in academic
settings in all parts of the world. They found that bullying has negative impact on academic
performance. Females were more affected than males by bullying. Bullying constitute a complex
problem in school kids lives. It is a problem that affects all students, either bullies or victims, and
those who attended interpersonal violence. Bullying may involve many sections verbal, physical
assaults, threats, jokes or language, and criticizing. All of such factors affect individually, or
collectively, and contributes in child's bullying. It is well known that bullying is difficult to
eliminate or to stop it in schools because it is used by students. Alison (2016) stated that bullying
is considered as global problem that affect emotional. Social, and physical wellbeing of school-
age children worldwide.
Piskin (2003-555) mentions that, "Bullying in schools is a worldwide problem that can
have negative consequences for the general school climate and for the right of students to learn
in a safe environment without fear." South Africa has displayed the same type of problem within
the boundaries of its schools in which the researcher has had firsthand experience. Whilst
interviewing Mrs. Anne Cilliers (2007), the Head of Department for Life Orientation of the
school where the researcher is employed (School Al; the problem of bullying was confirmed.
Horne and Staniszweski (2003:431) date that almost every adult bystander to the bullying.
Furniss (2000:9) mentions that bullying in schools causes widespread negative experiences such
as misery. Distress, fear, anxiety, anger and helplessness. The in the United States can remember
a childhood experience of school aggression and almost every child can remember being a
victim, a bully or a researcher has recognized many of the latter mentioned emotions, which have
been revealed by those victims who have sought. Therapeutic help.

better understand the psychological and emotional impact of bullying, new life in the face
disastrous losses; it would be helpful to also promote their coping strategies as well. Parents are
given a more complete understanding of their research when guidance on how well family

CHAPTER 2
Review of Related Literature:
Bulling is a problem that seems to be understanding common sense perspectives and
sociological frameworks that fully explain this phenomenon that extends beyond generations and
kids. In regards to the worst bullies and the bullied, it has been observed that the cross-sectional
studies have focused on psychological, academic, and social aspects. Some of the previous
literature regarding the micro-levels of the various components of bullying will be analyzed in
this review first.
Shahria et al. (2015) accentuate that there is a clear trend in which these children who
start as bullies experience an academic regression and have psychological disorders. According
to the researchers, this type of behavior has contributed to increasing school dropouts which
were females. This is also supported by the studies conducted by Wolke and Lereya (2015),
stating any in the case of psychological bullying experienced at a younger age and the impact
caused is much stronger and more damaging in terms of its development.
Within Alison’s (2016) research, he defined bullying as an international issue and strives
to satisfy all the dimensions impacted by bullying on children the emotional, social and physical
which promotes understanding of bullying without alone just grasping academics. Similar to all
articles, bullying was the center of the arguments although some writers provide talks on how to
deal with the issue, some scope more on the developmental aspects. Hence, this synthesis of
published studies concerning the phenomenon of bullying and its influence on social functioning
is relevant to conceptualize the phenomenon of bullying over the years.
According to Piskin (2003), the statement is valid since bullying is a common problem
worldwide and always has an adverse impact on the educational system. Such bullying patterns,
he emphasized, endanger the students' opportunity to attend school in an environment peaceful
enough for education.

Methodology:
Research Design
Descriptive-correlation research design will be used to discover the connection between social
media use and the affected students' self-esteem. These students have been
Cyberbullied.
Population and Locale of the Study
The population consists of high school students from the Sisters of Mount Carmel Catholic
School. The study will receive high school students.
Data Gathering Instrument
The data collection tool will be a detailed survey questionnaire that is structured and divided into
sections which cover the profiles of respondents' demographics, types of cyberbullying, its
psychological and academic effects, and the coping mechanisms and sources of assistance.
Data Collection Procedure
Key elements of the data collection procedure include the obtaining of first approval from the
school administration and parents, the giving of the surveys to the students with the help of the
subject teacher at school hours, and the analyzing of the collected data by means of descriptive
statistics, such as the demographic profiles and the correlation of variables to determine the
possible relationships.
